Bible Study Leaders

Group created by juliamajor

I'm hoping that this will be a resource for those who lead Bible studies and students.Networking and finding what does or doesn't work, how to reach people, how to draw a more diversified group of folks and how can we bring a freshness to God's word.

My husband and I have been invited by our pastor to consider leading a Bible study for adults in our parish. As long as we've been members there, there hasn't been anything like that. I have been in both Protestant (Reformed/Presbyterian) and Catholic studies, and gotten very excited about Scripture--but also have developed a lot of respect for the need for materials based solidly on Church teaching. I'm not a scholar, so I'm looking for studies (online or book form) that do not call for "reinventing the wheel," and are well-organized for weekly group use, 6-8 lesson series. Has anyone any experience with this sort of thing? I've read through the posts, and are looking at the Agape and Hahn/St. Paul School resources now, but also specifically ask about your recommendations for this particular format.

hi everyone. I am a catechist now for 8 years for 5th grade boys and this is my first year with the eighth grade boys. For the eighth grade, we break open the book of Mark. It has been great so far but alot of work. I recently purchased the commentary by Dr.Mary Heely. It is a great book. I look forward to the others I have ordered. I hope there will be someone here that can give me advice now and then about how the boys will show more interest as we study it. Thank you and God Bless.

Good Day to everyone. I look forward to reading your exchanges with each other, and helping out where I can. I just finished facilitation of Revelation. A lot of fun, but a lot of work. I have also been part of a groupd that uses CSSI materials from Scott Hahn and Dr. Mary Heely (Mark). Both are excellent for those of you who were asking for other recommendations.

    Stay blest.

in the gospel of mark what is the cost of discipleship for christians today? Are we just as repelled by the message of suffering and lowliness as the disciples in mark?

One other question. I use AgapeBibleStudy.Com for some on-line Bible studies. Very well done...... Very thorough....... Overly thorough...... Extremely thorough.

I also enjoyed Scott Hahn's Salvation.Com Bible Studies. I recently downloaded his 6 part talk on The Gospel of St. Paul. Again, I loved it tremendously.

My question is, has anyone found any other good on-line Bible Studies? I'm always looking for something else.

    Julia,

No, I've never had a bible study with teens. I've done a couple of apologetic talks with teens, i.e. what is the history of baptism in the Catholic Faith. They went well, especially where I could show that Baptism was pre-figured in the Old Testament, talked about in the New Testament, and practiced in the early Church. That and Confession are the two talks I've done. But no bible studies per se.

NEXT THING I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW- whether anyone has done a bible Study with teenagers and young adults? After the y are confirmed it seems they get tossed into the world without a life jacket. I would like to know if any really successful bible study for kids 13 and up into college? I haven't seen any. And if you've started one how did you get the kids there.? What study did you choose? would you have done it differently?
    Julie
