Growing Closer to God

Group created by prodigalson12

We all tend to be along different levels in our present experience with our relationship with God. Sharing it will not only help inspire others, it may give valuable insight into their own personal walk with our Lord.

Yesterday I was pretty down, wondering how long I'd have to face some of the tribulations I've been dealing with. I've had some serious financial matters that have weighed heavily on my mind and just before heading out of the shop, I was thinking, God has brought me this far, he wouldn't do so then to leave me hanging in the end. I got home and opened up my laptop to find the check I've been waiting for, not even sure if it would come right there on my keyboard left by my room mate.

All I can say is God is so good, and when it seemed darkest, his light shined right through, changing everything.

May these word bless you today. 2 Peter 1:2-8
    2]
May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
    [3]
His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence,
[4] by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, that through these you may escape from the corruption that is in the world because of passion, and become partakers of the divine nature.
[5] For this very reason make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge,
[6] and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness,
[7] and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love.
[8] For if these things are yours and abound, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I went to confession early in the morning right before my Confirmation. I remembered when Jesus told St. Faustina that He was in the confessional speaking for the priest and when I though of it like that, what do you know, the priest read my heart. The second time that's happened to me.
In my Confirmation when the bishop traced the sign of the cross on my forehead I knew then I wanted to be a nun. It was the best day ever!
Thank you for your prayers everyone!!!!!!!!!! You are in mine too!!!!!!!!

I am reading Bishop Fulton Sheen's book on the life of Jesus. Every time I read his thoughts on Christ I feel like I grow closer to God. What insight he has!

Well said prodigalson12. I do believe that Jesus still cries over us and what we do. Maybe He cries for what we don't do also. I know that faith can be strong and you can still have moments of doubt. Sometimes my doubt clouds my relationship with Him and He just reels me back in in some way or another. When I expierence these times of crisis and have a victory it is all so sweet. When I have a defeat, I then try and remember what I learned from the defeat. Never have I once thought that He has left me. I know it is me leaving Him. I think my faith is strengthened by every defeat I go through. It teaches me more dependance on Him the only one I truly can trust.

It is a comfort to know that God is ever present and does not change as I do. I know that my life would be empty with out Him. It would have no meaning nor any rhyme. I went through many years denying Him and have little to show for those years. I thank Him and glorify Him for never leaving me alone!

May we all reap His truly amazing graces now and forever!

    God Bless!

We often go through trials for several reasons, and within them, this is where our true faith is revealed. It's better to be cold or hot, rather then luke warm. If everything was easy, we would not know where our true faith was at, and in too many cases, those that live without challenges are only fooling themselves when they claim to have faith. I know very well myself, that mine earlier was greater in my mind then it was in reality and being humbled within life's challenges I realize that even though we may not always be faithful, Thank the Lord that he always is and is more then ready to accept us back into the fold.

God does not want us to feel pain, he feels it right along side of us as we struggle, it's when we give up along our own selfish ways and trust in him with all things that his glory is revealed. He cares so much words cannot describe, it's up to us to acknowledge it and if it means we must endure hardships in the process, so be it.
