It is the fall from the church by the youth in Ireland that troubles me the worst. It seems common place for the young men and women to be drinking every night of the week and at each other in the alleyways of every bar. I understand the deep connection with the Irish and their drink but I think there has been a complete disconnect with the church and the Irish youth. This large movement bothers me much more than the couple of bad apples that have been exposed to the news.

Holy Pooh Fan - there are a lot of old things in Catholicism - this does not mean that old dogmas or doctrines are obsolete or rescinded or over ruled - think again - btw try www.youcatrecall.com to see what is going on and going wrong sadly these days with modernist and modernism that we have been warned about and against - think again - twinc

Catholicism will restore itself in Ireland through continued faith, prayer and good works. Ireland without a majority Catholic population would no longer be Ireland. Catholicism is as much a part of Ireland's culture and history as it is its spirituality. I can't wait until I can move out there (God willing in a couple years) County Cork ftw! God Bless you all!

Ireland is a very special land, I have faith the Lord watches over Erin. If priests are having trouble keeping celebate, perhaps they should become deacons instead. Deacons can marry and have children, perhaps that would be a better choice for those finding difficulties. I would much perfer a deacon overload, than children getting hurt. May the Lord comfort the children, heal them and bring them peace. amen.

The use of Pius X on here below totally ignores the development of Bible understanding since - Pius X11 Divino Afflantu Spiritu and the break-through document issued duirng the Second Vatican Council which clarified the stages through which the New Testament went to take the form the narrative has today.. Taking the document below contradiicts the development of how to read Genesis 1-3 in particular. ]

Just joined this group. Of course the bad news travels fast, is exaggerated and the good is buried. Most of this stuff is decades old when the diseases of pedophila and alcoholism and compulsive gambling were not understood and thus not treated. except as moral weakness, not disease'
I wonder what evidence there is for Maynooth being a source of heresy?

Having just returned from Ireland, I can honestly say that all we heard on TV and Radio was the abuse scandal and the accountability report released in July holding the Bishop(s) and church hierarchy responsible.
It is certainly a tragedy For the younger generation of Irish it has caused great confusion and doubt. So many have turned against the church and feel a sense of betrayal. We must pray for Ireland and the Church.
