Mid-Life Spiritual Renewal

Group created by bbrenlatina

God in His goodness has brought me back to his grace and so I would like to have a group for men and woman between the ages of 40-60 where they can share their experiences of transitioning or conversation (if you will) from secular living to spiritual living.

GRATITUDE has become a really big thing for me. I turned 50 this year and although I have some pounds to lose and other improvements to make in my health - keeping the Temple of the Holy Spirit in good repair! - I find that I'm grateful to have come this far in my life and I hope to live to be a hundred if God grants me that privilege! Have a great day, everybody! And a blessed Advent season.

Wow it's been a while since I posted and since I've grown quite a bit. I am clear now that all who are born into this world is born with a specific purpose and it is our free will that will bring us to our destiny or not. And our ultimate destiny is to live a life full of blessings ...a very positive experience

I too, am exploring late (very late) vocations! As a 59 year old woman, there aren't many options out there. I'm waiting for a call from Mother Miriam and her Sisters. Does anyone know of an order that takes late life vocations?

As I mentioned in my previous post, Archbishop Dolan from New York shared 'Seven ways to get to know Jesus better' in his catechesis class to the youth that was at World Youth Day. Here are the points I wanted to share here in trying to strengthen our relationship with Christ.

    1. Spend time with Him (prayer)
    2. Share a meal-Holy Eucharist, don't miss a Sunday meal with Jesus
    3. Learn more about Him through the Gospels (READ them) and whole Bible, listen to what the church says about Jesus, catechism of Catholicism
    4. Get to know Mary
    5. Never get tired of saying I am sorry to Jesus CONFESSION
    6. Get rid of anything in our life that bothers the other person
    7. Share His interests
    - Interest in the poor, sick, and suffering

    I just wanted to share...

So I'm listening to EWTN today and I hear a story of a man who shared that when he was younger, he would pray for something and the Lord would grant his requests and it kept on happening until one day his requests were no longer being granted. At first he was puzzled and confused then through the journey of trials and tribulation, he recognized that the Lord was guiding him towards spiritual maturity.

I can totally relate to that story because the same has happened to me ...I certainly am still in that phase of trials and tribulations and despite my emotions, I have such a strong belief that at the end of the tunnel I will see the light. The closer I get to my God, the clearer I see myself for who I am and honestly I'm recognizing that my worth is not based on the money I make, the status I have or the power I may possess. My worth is based on who I am in humility and truth.

    Hi Eastender! Welcome!!!

Actually the purpose of starting this group was for the same reason. I too am in a place where my my faith and principles seem to be keeping me away from connecting with people who are do not have the same convictions as myself then I find this website where I can connect with other ppl who are have the same love for God as I do. And your right prayer and adoration is at the core of our spiritual journey that's for sure!

    Hi eastender,

I believe most Catholics get to a point of where to start at some point in their life of how to reconnect to Christ. Most start off by going to see the priest and going to reconcilliation. I was at this point about 8 years ago. Due to my marital status, the priest couldn't hear my confession at that point and I was at a crossroads in my faith. I didn't know what Adoration was at that point but I knew I could at least sign up for a prayer hour. That was 8 years ago and I've consistently spent an hour with our Lord since then and I now have a two hour block which happens to be this evening. I was amazed at how quickly I was able to get reconciled with Christ and His church and it began at Adoration.

I was at World Youth Day in Madrid with my girls last month. Archbishop Dolan from New York mentioned during one of the Masses that I attended of 7 ways we can know Jesus better. The first point is to spend time with Him (prayer). I would suggest starting there

    Hello All
Just looking for a place for support. Was raised Catholic, went to Catholic schools, drifted away.
Don't have many friends or family that are religious so am kinda on my own. Am wondering if there are others who have had a similar experience. Wondering where to start.

    Welcome blueadept

I am always so happy to hear that someone else is searching to living the life of Christ as I want to! I recently looked into volunteering at my parish to work with the children as a CCD instructor. Please share your experience!

Many blessing as you prepare for the Perm Diaconate. I grew up with my Dad as a Permanent Deacon and I believe that because of that basis in my family we are still together ...despite the issues.

I look forward to you sharing your experiences of your transition from the secular to the spiritual. For me so far, It's been interesting because living my life based on truth so goes against what we are conditioned to live by way of the world.

    Many blessings!
    Brenda
