Mary Ward's words:"Women in time will do great things".
Our school crest...Maria Regina Angelorum ...Cruci Dum Spiro Fido... When we first attended this school it was an active Convent with nuns working as teachers and living on the premises. The Loreto philosophy of education is centred in God and is rooted in Gospel values where truth, freedom, justice, sincerity and joy may find expression. How long have we got for this description I wonder?
The Cross symbolises the taking up of our daily cross and following Our Lord through the difficult paths of this world.
The Pierced Heart of our Lady symbolises the fact that we can be encouraged by her example and accept that which the Lord has ordained for us.
"Maria Regina Angelorum"
"Mary, Queen of Angels"
The Sacred Heart crowned with the Cross symbolises that love is as strong as death - from this we may draw the strength we need.
The Anchor of Hope keeps us firm and steadfast amidst the storms of life.
"Cruci dum spiro fido"
"In the Cross, while I breathe, I trust.
Well there is certainly plenty of room for group description here! I do hope all women who have read this far and are still interested will join the group. Men too might join if they wish and of course, if, they are drawn to join. Liberty Equality and Fraternity were the first words that I thought of for the name of a group but of course those have already been taken by the French revolution! Above all freedom of speech to all who wish to share, understand and express the talents God gave us.
