Compline is to be supressed, but was not forbidden. I read it in either the Vat. 11 Doc. or in Cannon Law...I don't remember which. I don't know why is to be suppressed, but perhaps it has something to do with the age, health and dwindleing no. of contmpletive vocations and monestaries. Some one may know.
I keep saying I'm going to to get the 4 volume set of Divine Offices, but something always comes up. Sooner or later I will get the set. And yes, prettiepet, I will pray for you and for CoC's intentions as well. Sleep in the arms and heart of our Lord this night.

Some communities say Matins during the night, usually at midnight, but not all. I don't know where you are in New England, I am in New Hampshire. We have had lots of rain- Brother Sun, where are you??

Yes I say the office, I have the 4 volume I have gone on divine office.org sometimes to say it with others. Am paying off debts but was left with a few.More and more I understand St. Francis wanting companions. The new formation program for OFS is about 3 and a half years so I am quite far fromprofession, that would complicate things. At least at the gatherings I can be open about spirituality. I also do Why Catholic group in the parish and have attended FR. Gallaghers seminars on Ignation Spirituality.Best things I ever learned, it works!!poverty for me means nothing not necessary, not just nothing. It is more poverty of spirit I am trying to live. Don't contemplatives sing night prayers during the night?

Almost every order will require you to be debt free or almost debt free. When I retired I paid off most of my debts other than utililities, and some small things such as home and car insureance. I think if someone has the means to pay most of their debts, has enough left over for their share of living expenses or for personal needs, they should not be turned away. I guess you could call them "religious room mates!" We live in different times and must adjust accordenly. As I read your info. you are already living a spiritual, religious life: your just not living a community life. It is a whole lot nicer to pray together than to pray alone and you would have the support of your peers. We all desire sancity...I am so desirous of it my self, but far from it. Keep up your persuit of the santified life. You may be closer than you think. Do you pray the Devine Office? I use the Christian Prayer office book, but it only has morning and eve. prayers in it. Also, did you know that Compline is to be "surpessed?" Wordy aren't I? LOL! P. S. God forgives all transgressions if we are truely sorry.

Thank you for this group. It is helpful to talk all this out. First ,I want to do God's Will for me because that is the path to sancity. I know He is calling me to more but the where ais cloudy. Add me to your prayers and I will add you.I do believe a new community and Rule are needed for such as I.

I am in formation for OFS. So , I, too, am Franciscan. I am not yet professed and want to follow Francis deeper than secular will allow. i so admire Clare, she originally wanted to be active with the Brothers yet she developed a spirituality of prayer support.I have to pray. I would want to be active for now also but what God wants!
