MOVIES YOU'D RECOMMEND (AND/ OR) QUESTION!

Group created by sheilakathy

Seen any good movies lately? Share the good news!

Have a question about one you've seen (even long ago?) Ask! Maybe someone knows the answer.

Seen a real dud lately? Please warn us so we don't go see it (or worse yet) buy it and get burned also!

Also, please let us know if you saw it in the
theatre(s) or if it is available on DVD.

Thanks!

Sheila,
Group Leader

I loved this video interview with the lead singer of NEWSBOYS, Micheal Tait. I know, not technically a movie, but a video interveiw worth checking out. http://freakmag.com/Michael_Tait_Video_Interview.html

Just finished watching "Going My Way" again with Bing Crosby. Old movie, still a great message.

    "The MIghty Macs"

I don't want to over sell it, because in the end it is a predictable feel good sports movie. However, it came out late last year, will be released on DVD in two weeks, was entertaining, G rated, and is based on the true story of a women's basketball team at a Catholic college:

I enjoyed it. My daughter that plays basketball and softball loved it. It was great that her and I could watch a movie that featured women's sports and presented the Catholic faith not as a foil or as just background scenery, but part (yes a small part, but still a part) of the story.

Excuse me, Old Timers Disease, I should have said, "The Man From Snowy River", a movie made in Australia by the Aussies, with one American actor, who was out of place.

The movies these days are either full of filthy words, bloodsucking, or show far too much skin---all with very little plot or redeeming virtues. About 99% would make "The List" in my opinion. Even the third or fourth remake of the same movie has been fouled with the gutter language that flows in every part of our daily life. Sitting in a restaurant yesterday, I was forced to listen to female's referred to a female dogs, mother was half a word, and "ya know what I'm sayin" was the common fill in for English. The trouble is there were small children sitting in the same booth, and several boothes around. Made me wish for "Old Times There Are Not Forgotten".

This movie stars Tom Hanks, and is another incredible performance! It's moral enough for the whole family. I put the link above to read the review

I really enjoyed the movie of the last days of Our Lord with Jim Cavisile acting the part of Our Lord. I loved the Arameric language of the movie. But, cannot remember the title.

On an opposite note, I would really enjoy a remake of the original "Gone With The Wind" in the original language of the times with Kelly Pickler as Scarlett O'Hara. To me she is the only person who could fit that role properly in these times. Need some suggestions on who could play Rhett Butler though. If we are going to have a movie about the South, we should have we Southerners, with our Southern English, playing the parts, as in Cold Mountain with an Aussie and an Brit trying to be Southern---didn't work. It would be like making The Man From Snowy Mountain with Mexicans or Evita with Madonna.
