    Hi,

I just popped in to see what is happening. Is there a way to start an on-line bible study in some meaningful way? What do you all think?

Thanks for responding Angierabbit. I'm following this plan: http://catholicbibleinayear.org/dail...ading-schedule

I started at the beginning of January, so it has worked out perfectly. As of right now, I am reading bits of Genesis, Isaiah, Matthew, and Psalms every day. I'm really enjoying reading all of the other books, but Isaiah has been really difficult for me. I am brand new to Bible study, so maybe that is why it is so hard for me to understand. Thanks in advance!

    Pax vobiscum,

There are a number of resources on the Internet you can consult. They have different reading plans for daily bible reading.
I found that choosing a quiet spot in the house and making reading a daily habit makes me want to do it every day.
If you find some passages difficult to understand, try getting a bible with commentary. Igantius Catholic Study Bible New Testament is a good place to start. It is available from the publisher, on Amazon and other places.

To get started read the passage about Paul's conversion, (Acts 9)
"Now as he journeyed he apporached Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven flashed about him. And he fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me? "

The rest is for you to read. God bless.

Is there a specific passage that you are struggling with or is the Book as a whole?

    I'm curious...what is your Bible-in-a-Year plan?

Are you reading straight thru, or are you mixing it up a bit?

In my experience, the latter works best!

Entitlement programs as they now exist strip the dignity and create a permanent underclass with a "gimme gimme" attitude. I will gladly give to someone who is really trying to make it on their own, but someone who just wants to take can forget it.

    That's exactly how I feel!
Thanks for the insight into the lifestyle back then.
I had NO idea that the reason for not working was because they were waiting for the Lord to return.

Makes me think of a Baptist preacher friend who says that he WON'T preach/teach about the book of REVELATION because Christians are gonna be "RAPTURED" out of here!!
He rationalizes that since they won't be here during the Tribulation Period, there is NO need to study it.
