Pslam 23 reminds us how blessed we are to have the presence of the Lord in our everyday lives, even at our death. This group is a place to share those blessings. Let's all try to share a blessing-per-day no matter how small!

I haven't read entirely into Psalms, but my favorite has always been Psalm 23 after i heard a harp rendition of it played by Jeff Majors. It was so hauntingly beautiful, that I couldn't deny how much I loved it.

This was taken from a magazine entitled "Kateri, Lily of the Mohawk" (after Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha).

The 23rd Psalm, An Indian Translation

The Great Father above is a Shepherd Chief, and I am his, and with Him I want not.

He throws out to me a rope, and the name of the rope is Love.

He draws me, and He draws me and He draws me to where the grass is green and the water is not dangerous.

And I eat and lie down satisfied. Sometimes my heart is very weak and falls down, but He lifts it up again, and draws me into a good road. His name is Wonderful.

Sometimes, it may be very soon, it may be longer. It may be a long, long time that He will draw me into a place between mountains.

It is dark there, but I will not draw back; I will not be afraid. For it is in there between these mountains that the Shepherd will meet me. And the hunger I have felt in my heart all through this life will be satisfied.

Sometimes He makes the Love rope into a whip, but afterwards He gives me a staff that I may lean on. He spreads a table before me with all kinds of food. He puts His hand upon my head and all "tired" is gone.

My cup He fills until it runs over. What I tell you is true. I lie not. These roads that are a way ahead will stay with me through life and afterwards I will go to live in the Big Teepee, and sit down with the Shepherd Chief forever.

"Let peace encircle the world. Let men walk hand in hand, a living bond of brotherhood, a voice from land to land."

Everyone have a very blessed & wonderful evening!

    Blessings,
    Kim

    Hi everyone,

My name is Kim & I'm a newcomer. I love Psalm 23. In fact my primary care physician (who's Catholic & pro-life) suggested that I read it (two different times) because I suffer from depression. I have & found it very comforting!!! I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend!

    Easter Blessings,
    Kim

I have always liked the image of Jesus as the Sheperd and us as the sheep. It is comforting image for me. Psalm 23 was one of the first Psalms I would ask my family to read to me while in the hospital years ago.And to this day I read it alway when in the hospital and when I feel a little worn out and need to give over my burdens to our Lord. It is a simple yet very profound psalm. I am happy to of found this group of like minded folks!!
