For Those Who Feel a Religious Vocation

By the way, this is True Faith - I have no idea why my previous account got banned, but from now on, it's me!

I am 19 year old girl and I am almost 100% sure that God is calling me to enter a convent this summer. I have been thinking about religious life for over 4 years and this summer i felt God (very strongly) inviting me to enter this coming summer. The thing that is bothering me is that there are times that i cannot see myself living this life. But i keep moving forward with the process because I feel so strongly that this is what God is asking of me. It is so scary! Any advice?

Hello and God Bless. My name is Joseph and I am a 29 year old male discerning the priesthood. Although I lead a very distracted and secular life I feel called to be closer to God in everything I do. I find it increasingly hard to express my desires for the spiritual life in the modern world. I hope that this forum may offer some solace and direction for my soul. May the Peace of Christ stay in your hearts for eternity.

Agreed, but sometimes it's also good and holy to be humble, pray about a vocation, and just let God place you where He wants.....

Sugarytwinkle, I don't know too many things about you to answer more fully and correctly. However, I can say this - You are pretty young still and that's probably what people mean when they say that you should live a little more. That does not necessarily mean partying and sinning. It means more experience in life. Also, you can start college, as many Orders will appreciate if you have a degree, at least an AA degree in something. This might not be necessary in some cases; it all depends. Right now you should also concentrate on getting active in your parish - become a eucharistic minister, a reader or something else. You should be active in your church for two years or so before thinking about joining an Order. But, you can call whatever Order strikes your fancy right now and they will be happy to help you.
