For Those Who Feel a Religious Vocation

Group created by True Faith

Is there anyone out there who would like to be either a sister, a friar or a priest? Not sure? Maybe? If you need support on the subject, please come hither! Our Lady said in some of her prophecies that "Religious Vocations will be lost due to ignorance of teachings..." Let's not let that happen here! There is so much discouragement in the world we live in today. We need more religious! So join, if you will!

I think if you wear a habit you do wear it all the time other than when you sleep. Thats what I assume.

Christine85, I agree with the whole habit thing, but do the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia wear the habit all the time?

Go for it Goalkeeper, This risk is one of the many personal sacrifices you will have to make if you choose the religious life. If you had to either deny Jesus or be killed you would choose to be killed. What could affect you more than that?

Goalkeeper~ I think you should follow your calling and pray, pray, pray, pray for protection from people who are critical towards your decision. Pray that they will not influence you and pray for them that they may see the goodness of a Religious Vocation.

I dont know what you would think about this, but perhaps consecrate yourself to Jesus through Mary according to St Louis de Montfort. You will find that doing this that you will have more protection from Mary your Mother , and you could see it kind of like a first step towards Religious life, in that you are Consecrating yourself, but in a way that people would not know. This way you can feel what it is like to be consecrated , but not be faced with peoples judgemental reactions. You will most definitely also see the power of Marys intercession more fully in your life. To learn more :

Peace be with you, God bless you and keep you always +++

I am a teenager feeling the call from God very heavily to go into the religious life but, the truth is that I am scared. I live in a highly condensed protestant community and I fear about being ostracized by my friends. Any advice on how to handle this would be helpful!

White Peony, I think you should do it. They are certainly flourishing and lots of young women which is good. I like Dominicans in fact I had once considered becoming a Dominican Sister of St Cecelia. I personally think it is important to wear a habit , though I know not everyone agrees.

True Faith~ I am so happy you found True Devotion, it will change your life !!!!

Wolfgirl~ Do a novena to Mary asking her to help you discern Gods will for your life. Also pray the Rosary as much as you can and plead God to lead you in his will, ask for this every time you pray ...

Hi wolfgirl74, The more you pray and learn about the Father the better. The more you live a pure life and reject sin in all it's little temptations (especially in your mind) the closer you will come.
Try to pray in a spiritual way.
It is written, when you draw near to the father, he will draw near to you." Don't forget to allow yourself some quiet time each day to listen to God. Listen for those random thoughts that pop into your head. Feel with all your senses for that presence of the Holy spirit. The warmth or the fuzzy almost tingly feeling around your skin, your hands in particular. Listen for that still small voice of Jesus wich will sound like an actual voice should you hear it. The Lord Jesus calls himself the word. He's constantly talking to us but we rarely hear him.

If you think you've felt the holy spirit but you're not sure, know this. It will always leave you with an overwhelming feeling of peace.
