For Those Who Feel a Religious Vocation

Group created by True Faith

Is there anyone out there who would like to be either a sister, a friar or a priest? Not sure? Maybe? If you need support on the subject, please come hither! Our Lady said in some of her prophecies that "Religious Vocations will be lost due to ignorance of teachings..." Let's not let that happen here! There is so much discouragement in the world we live in today. We need more religious! So join, if you will!

Hey! I believe myself to be a "future nun" (hence the screenname *nyuck* *nyuck*) I'd really like to be a Sister Servant of the Most Sacred Heart.

I'm a male lol. I just figured since the nuns here are always inviting people to visit them that I would. I figure any monk or nun knows more about the religious life than a priest does. So, I'm planning on visiting them mainly bc they're not too far away.

Btw, I'm a proud member of "Catholics in the South" if that sheds some light on it. There aren't very many Catholics down here.

Semper- are you male or female ? As you said you want to be a Friar, but you're going to see nuns?

First I want to say how impressively active this board is for how few members there are.

Anyways, I think I'm being called to be a Dominican Friar. But, I'm just starting what I think will be a long period of discernment. I'm in college for at least 2 more years. At least . Anyways, I think over this spring break I'm going to visit a small local convent of nuns who are FCJ (Faithful Companions of Jesus).

I figure I might as well take advantage of the local monastics first... a lot of people don't have religious living less than an hour away. I don't really know what to expect, there are 3 nuns who live in community here. But, I'm praying the Holy Spirit works in whatever way He wills.

I would agree . . . be careful with the Ursulines. I am very disappointed. I went to high school at Ursuline High in Santa Rosa, CA. This school was open for I think a hundred years, and just this last year, the Ursuline nuns closed it and are re-opening it as a public charter school to teach disadvantage kids about social responsibility. It has shocked our Catholic community, and as alumni, we are very saddened. I went there, my children went there, and now my granddaughters won't have this opportunity. It was the experience of a lifetime. So sad. The Ursulines say the school was out of money, but we are a wealthy community and had we known, we would have gotten the money to keep it going. There was no advance warning. Just an email with no recourse. We think something unethical was going on, but we will never know. It will be a sorely missed institution in our area.

Oh ok. Yeah I don't think I would like to join an Order like that. I have always been attracted to cloistered and monastic. I pray I can get accepted to the Order I like one day.
