Hi, my name is Kim & I suffer from a number of disorders which are: Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), Depression, Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) & Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I was sexually abused several times in my life by my father's sister's husband when I was a child. But lately I've been really feeling BLUE. I'm in therapy and I have a wonderful CATHOLIC & PRO-LIFE primary care physician by the name of Dr. Stephen Bishop, who's been my doctor for 5 years. He even prays with me . Even though I see a Pychologist that he recommended I feel more comfortable talking to Dr. Bishop. I would talk more to my husband, Vince, but he's stressed out because he might be losing his job that he's been at for 10 years, so I don't want to cause any more undue stress. Well, thank you so much for letting me go on. And by the way, St. Dymphna is a beautiful saint & I know her very well.

I also wanted to mention if anyone lives in SE Michigan & are in need of wonderful, as well as compassionate CATHOLIC & PRO-LIFE physicians both Dr. Bishop & his medical partner, Dr. Jeffrey Berger are top notch. There practice is called Sacred Heart Medical Centre in Livonia, Michigan.

Sacred Heart Medical Centre's website is:

    www.sacredheartmedical.org

Everyone have a wonderful & blessed weekend! God bless!!!

Phobic1981, wow, hearing your story just shows how limited my knowledge of disorders and illnesses are. Because of your post
I will now broaden my petitions during novenas and rosaries,
starting with your cause. It sounds like you have a good knowledge
of your symptoms, etc.. I'll be praying for your determination in over-
    coming them.

    your sister in Christ,

Hey everybody Just joined the "misfits" group and thought this one seemed to fit my situation as well. I have a severe phobia (a phobia that interferes with daily life) that's been steadily getting worse since age 11 (I'm now 28). The official name is emetophobia, meaning fear of vomiting. My problem is, I'm so scared to throw up that I don't eat, rationalizing that if there's nothing in my stomach, I can't throw up. Not rational, I know, but what phobia is?
Pretty scared lately, flu season is always hard. Almost passed out on the job back in November and haven't felt strong enough to look for a new one. Debt is piling up and I'm feeling almost crushed by the fear, both the phobia and just the regular fear of losing my life, both literally and figuratively.
Hoping to find another with the same phobia, or any severe phobia, but anyone's comments are welcome.
Also, since my aunt spent most of her life completely lost to schitzophrenia, it's awesome to see a group dedicated to a forgotten, overlooked and stigmatized group.

Even the great Apostle Saint Paul had a "thorn in the flesh" to bear. He also asked for God to heal him but his answer was "my grace is suffiient for you". (1 Cor. 7-9) We also need to boast in our infirmities as Paul did. Somehow he can still use us to spread his word. I am sorry you are feeling so badly; I will keep you in my prayers.

Hey Holly3278, since you sound a little worried I would like to share one of my very favorite quotes
    of a saint.

Worry is the greatest evil that can befall a soul,
except sin. God commands you to pray, but forbids you to worry.

    St. Francis de Sales

This reminded me that it is even in the Mass, 'keep us from all anxieties'. Easy to want, hard
to accomplish, I understand. But try to think of
that quote every now and then and I hope it helps
    you.

    Your sister in Christ,

Holly3278, it pains me to see/hear such desperation
in your words. I don't all the stats, but a nun surrenders her life to God, help other, prays, prays,
prays, amongst others. From what I see through
your words and involvement w/ CAF, you may not
have a habit yet, but you do carry the heart and
responsibilities of what you seek. May you always
    see God beside you.

    Your sister in Christ,

Why won't God heal me? I need healing so badly. I want to be healed so badly because I want to become a nun but it seems that God refuses to heal me.

PRAYER IN HONOR OF ST. DYMPHNA

Lord Jesus Christ,You have willed that St. Dymphna should be invoked by thousands of clients as the patroness of nervous and mental
disease and have brought it about that her interest
in these patients should be an inspiration to and
and ideal of charity throughout the world. Grant
that, through the prayers of this youthful martyr of purity, those who suffer from nervous and mental
illness everywhere o earth may be helped and
consoled. I recommend to You in particular

    (here mention those
    you wish to pray for)

Be pleased to hear the prayer of St. Dymphna and of Your Blessed Mother. Give those whom I
recommend the patience to bear with their affliction and resignation to do Your divine will.
Give the the consolation they need and especially
the cure they so much desire, if it be Your will.
    Through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
