Can't wait for our classes to begin. They keep saying they're waiting to get a group together. Guess I'll have to wait till next Easter for my conversion.

Not judging, in the least. Just sharing what i have been told. Remember... God forgives. There are far worse transgressions in this world that God forgives us for. Don't let a website discourage what you are trying to obtain. That relationship with God.

I am glad that you are pro-life! So am I. I have been a Catholic almost 8 years now and I see many very devout Catholics and many people who are Catholic but really do not understand the faith. My Bishop is Paul Swain who is a convert from Wisconson, he is a devout bishop who striveds to educate the whole dioceses.

There is no perfect church as it is made up of humans! But Jesus established a church with a magisterium to help it keep on tract as a whole and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it. But of course any organization made up of humans can struggle.

Keep the faith! And pray hard for your bishop!

I don't think we can ever even begin to understand and fathom the true nature of God. I for one don't need a definite answer on this topic, why you may ask? Well, God has given us just enough information that we need in order to understand or know about the creation in order for us to live good lifes and return to him. So basically, I trust that I've been given enough information and don't need to focus on limiting God.

I recommend reading the Catechism of the Catholic Church 282- to about 310. I read it recently and I don't think it gives a definite answer one way or another, probably because they don't want to limit The Creator. I think they understand that there is just too much we don't need to know. If I remember right they are pretty vague about it.

Now I should say that they do believe God creates from nothing, but it doesn't go into all details of how this happens, or by what means he has to employ to make things happen. It seems to me they are just defining the starting point. Some may scoff at me for my next two sentences, but again this comes from my observation of our current situation here on this planet. We have fundamental laws of physics that can't be broken. Why should we assume that God doesn't have something similar. Now as far as we are concerned he's all powerful, all knowing, omniscient because he may not be bound by our rules. Again, this boils back down to we just don't know and everything we can say about it is just a guess and is of no real import to our current situation. The point is that he has the power to make His Will happen, whether, for example, it meant that in order to give us certain natural resources he had to let the dinosaurs roam the planet for a time, rather than employing the I-Dream-of-Genie-eye twitch and poof it magically happens.

I didn't mean that to believe in Creation I believe it happened in 6 24 hour days, but I do believe in 6 days to God (a day is like a 1000 years)

    2 Peter 3:8
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

therefore the dinosaurs had time to roam so to speak and I also believe the I dream of genie mentality, only instead of the eye twitch, He spoke it into existence.

Genesis 1:3 3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

Just my two cents on the matter.

    Peace HouseofSaul

    I'm praying for you.
Sorry I haven't been on for a while. When I first read your post a few weeks ago, I was too distressed to respond and even felt a sting from your post. I just re read it again today and I now read with clarity and matter of factly.

Thanks for the prayers and for being direct. I myself prefer the direct approach, even if it sometimes stings. By being direct there is less room for being misunderstood.

RCIA is starting in most churches. Anyone with questions about the Catholic faith should contact their local church. Just because you attend classes does not mean you have to join. Follow Jesus with you own heart and see what he has for you!

I am a fan of prayer in general, and of novenas. However, I'm a little disappointed in catholicculture.org's take on this one.

Their claim that other novenas "are just imitations" saddens me.

Christ would not view the sincerity or value of anyone's prayer better or more authentic than an other.

The other thing is their claim that Christ instituted this particular novena, making it unlike the others that are imitations is not scripturally supported.

In Acts 1:4,Luke writes, "And eating together with them, he commanded them, that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but should wait for the promise of the Father, which you have heard (saith he) by my mouth."

This so-called authentic, original, novena or even the institution of a novena is not present in the texts.

More likely than to pray a novena, they were commanded to stay (not return) in Jerusalem to begin the commission commanded by Christ in Acts 1:8, "to witness unto me in Jerusalem, and in all Jedea, and Samaria, and even to the uttermost part of the earth.

Sure, pray for the Holy Spirit to touch you now and at Pentecost, but don't feel intimidated into praying a certain prayer. Pray instead from your heart.

    Pax

The Ascension of Our Lord this year is May17th. The Novena in honor of the Holy Spirit is the original novena, of which all other novenas are only imitations. Our Lord Himself instituted this novena when, on the day of His ascension, He sent His Apostles back to Jerusalem to pray for nine days that they might be ready on the tenth day, which was Pentecost, to receive the Holy Spirit.

Please join me in praying the Novena to the Holy Spirit to prepares our hearts for the day of Pentecost! Everyone please join in, even if you are not Catholic yet.

Of course you can pray the rosary! It is a private devotion. It is only the 7 sacraments you need to wait for.

its so hard to work in a nursing home and know some of the people have no one. That was a wonderfull gesture.I always encourage people to adopt someone while they visit. If peoples family die,I always beg them to come back and visit so and so.I hope you continue that relationship.

Woolybae, sounds like a great Sunday for you, and maybe the Holy Spirit touched your dog as well. The church will become home for your dog. I will continue to pray for you to fee compfortable in mass and be able to follow along.

At the nursing home where my 92 yr old mother in law is, there is a lady in her mid 50's, they are both in the Alzheimer's unit. The past few days the Holy Spirit had been tugging on me to get this lady a gift the next time I took one for my MIL. Which I decided I would do, but still had to present it to my husband. Funny thing that in the morning I visited and had mass at another church and the priest there in his homily talked about how mother's day is not always happy for everyone. They had mothers that had problems, or they themselves could not have kids. This lady in the nursing home has no family, but the homily was a confirmation that I needed to make this lady's day special. So yesterday we got flowers for my MIL and I bought a bead necklace for this lady, so it would be something that would last. When we went in the nursing home the family went to see my mother in law. I went straght to this ladies (Jerry) room. She was so happy to have a visitor and I spent time with her and she let me put the necklace on and just beamed from ear to ear. I don't know if she will remember it later, but she will have the necklace and maybe that will just give her some happiness. I did have a nice visit with my MIL too and she had not remembered it was Mother's Day until we got there to help her celebrate.
