Can't wait for our classes to begin. They keep saying they're waiting to get a group together. Guess I'll have to wait till next Easter for my conversion.

Not judging, in the least. Just sharing what i have been told. Remember... God forgives. There are far worse transgressions in this world that God forgives us for. Don't let a website discourage what you are trying to obtain. That relationship with God.

I am glad that you are pro-life! So am I. I have been a Catholic almost 8 years now and I see many very devout Catholics and many people who are Catholic but really do not understand the faith. My Bishop is Paul Swain who is a convert from Wisconson, he is a devout bishop who striveds to educate the whole dioceses.

There is no perfect church as it is made up of humans! But Jesus established a church with a magisterium to help it keep on tract as a whole and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it. But of course any organization made up of humans can struggle.

Keep the faith! And pray hard for your bishop!

I don't think we can ever even begin to understand and fathom the true nature of God. I for one don't need a definite answer on this topic, why you may ask? Well, God has given us just enough information that we need in order to understand or know about the creation in order for us to live good lifes and return to him. So basically, I trust that I've been given enough information and don't need to focus on limiting God.

I recommend reading the Catechism of the Catholic Church 282- to about 310. I read it recently and I don't think it gives a definite answer one way or another, probably because they don't want to limit The Creator. I think they understand that there is just too much we don't need to know. If I remember right they are pretty vague about it.

Now I should say that they do believe God creates from nothing, but it doesn't go into all details of how this happens, or by what means he has to employ to make things happen. It seems to me they are just defining the starting point. Some may scoff at me for my next two sentences, but again this comes from my observation of our current situation here on this planet. We have fundamental laws of physics that can't be broken. Why should we assume that God doesn't have something similar. Now as far as we are concerned he's all powerful, all knowing, omniscient because he may not be bound by our rules. Again, this boils back down to we just don't know and everything we can say about it is just a guess and is of no real import to our current situation. The point is that he has the power to make His Will happen, whether, for example, it meant that in order to give us certain natural resources he had to let the dinosaurs roam the planet for a time, rather than employing the I-Dream-of-Genie-eye twitch and poof it magically happens.

I didn't mean that to believe in Creation I believe it happened in 6 24 hour days, but I do believe in 6 days to God (a day is like a 1000 years)

    2 Peter 3:8
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

therefore the dinosaurs had time to roam so to speak and I also believe the I dream of genie mentality, only instead of the eye twitch, He spoke it into existence.

Genesis 1:3 3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

Just my two cents on the matter.

    Peace HouseofSaul

    I'm praying for you.
Sorry I haven't been on for a while. When I first read your post a few weeks ago, I was too distressed to respond and even felt a sting from your post. I just re read it again today and I now read with clarity and matter of factly.

Thanks for the prayers and for being direct. I myself prefer the direct approach, even if it sometimes stings. By being direct there is less room for being misunderstood.

RCIA is starting in most churches. Anyone with questions about the Catholic faith should contact their local church. Just because you attend classes does not mean you have to join. Follow Jesus with you own heart and see what he has for you!

Just a thought that came to mind at this morning's Good Friday prayer service at our parish:

Today, in our church, witnessing the open and empty tabernacle brings immense sadness.

On Easter Sunday, withnessing the open and empty tomb will replace that sadness with unparalleled joy!

    Praise God!

Welcome aboard, Wooly. God will be patient, and thats the only one who's patience you will need! For your part, all God asks is perseverence and prayer. And prayer, I certainly will offer (and can almost assure everyone else at this site will also)!

Hi. I started investigating the Catholic faith as a personal Lent study. I have been to several protestant churches and wanted to investigate and strengthen my faith through looking at it from a different perspective. The more I found out about the Catholic faith, the more it made sense. I am still learning about it and although I have not quite got to the place where I want to fully commit to Catholisism, I am very nearly there, so please be patient with me and please help me on my journey. Thanks

Today is Good Friday, the day to commemorate our saviors crucifixion. Today there is no mass, but a communion service. And in most churches they will have the veneration of the cross. Traditionally the altars are stripped and no sign of anything that celebrates the resurection.

For those entering into the Church this weekend, this novena is a great opportunity for your first plenary indulgence for yourself, or for someone who has passed (plenary indulgences cannot be earned for other living persons).

A plenary indulgence will give remission of all temperal sin.

    There are 5 requirements:

    1. Perform the novena (Chaplet of Divine Mercy)
    2. Receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation
    3. Receive the Eucharist
    4. Pray for the intentions of the Pope (at least one Our Father and one Hail Mary).
    5. Be free of the attachment of sin (not wishing you could start over again...there are no "do overs" for a plenary indulgence).

Even if you are not able to partake in the sacraments required, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy is a beautiful and easy prayer.

Its a great way to start or end your day, before or after praying the Rosary, since it is prayed on Rosary Beads.

The week after Easter is Divine Mercy Sunday.

In the Diary of St. Faustina, Jesus asked that the Feast of Divine Mercy, known today as Divine Mercy Sunday, be preceded by a Novena to The Divine Mercy. A Novena is nine days of prayer in preparation for a feast. In the case of the Novena to The Divine Mercy, we pray the Chaplet of The Divine Mercy each day for a specific intention.

Our Lord told St. Faustina, "I desire that during these nine days you bring souls to the fountain of My mercy, that they may draw ... strength and refreshment and whatever grace they need in the hardships of life, and especially at the hour of death" (Diary, 1209).

This novena (9 day prayer) starts tomorrow on Good Friday and brings you to Divine Mercy Sunday (the week after Easter).

Qaletaqa - there is a website http://catholicmom.com/ that can give you all kinds of resources.

Get to know other families in your parish with young children and I am sure the fellowship will help you with resources also.

Yes Neofight, the rosary is great, and our Blessed Mother will interceed in prayer for you and help you with your journey. Here is a website to help you learn the rosary. http://www.comepraytherosary.org/

Qaletaqa, start networking your parish! Small group ministries, prayer groups, social concerns, the parish office and staff. You'll meet more people, make friends with the same issues, and those who are willing to help you I am sure. In the meantime, PRAY, and I will pray for you. The childcare, I know seems like a huge obstacle, but to GOD it's a small thing...if he can heal the sick, care for the widows and orphans, and comfort and strengthen the poor in spirit, he certainly will help you! Place all your trust in the Lord, and your needs will be met! May God bless you and your little one on your journey of faith!

Qaletaqa...Pray the Rosary also. My faith tells me that this issue is best addressed with the intercession of the Mother of God, who is aware of the hardships of parenthood!

Other group members, pray with me:

Heavenly Father, Please help Qaletaqa find a solution to what she feels might be a stumbling block in her journey home to you and the Lord Jesus. And offer her comfort from anxiety this causes so she can focus on loving you! In the name of Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, One God, forever and ever. AMEN

    Hi
I will be starting the RICA classes in September hopefully ( i have a daughter i guess she has to wait a few years), but i dont see how i will be able to as i have daughter who will be four by then and there is only the two of us, we dont know anyone apart from a few mums when she started nursery so i dont think i could leave her with them. Not to sure if i would be able to take her with me either, i guess somehow it will work out.

We went to our first catholic mass on palm sunday, very emotional service my daughter was singing along to a hymn, 'where you there when they crucified my lord,' first time she has heard it, it was rather cute at the moment she is only 3.

Anyway why i posted was, is there a way to learn about catholic traditions etc that i can teach my daughter and anyone recommend any books. no real idea where to get started, just following a path that i should have followed a while ago
