Holy War 11, I have found it best to never get into a discussion with a potestant using the Bible. A priest even told me this once. All that will happen is a back and forth war of the scriptures. I doesn't work because they are not open minded. Their sole purpose is to prove you wrong and them right. Live your faith quietly. That will speack volumes. Over time ( and I mean years) they will start to see that you have something special and then they will start being curious about it. Hang onto hope for the future.

Sunyata, I believe if someone loves you, they will allow you to be you. They will not control you so they can be happy. That being said, I do understand the anti-Catholicism attitude. I think there has to be a happy medium. You should be allowed some" religious reminders" because they are a part of your faith. You shouldn't throw them in her face though. Keep them to a minimum and descrete. Explain to her that you have no intention of hurting her, but it is a part of your religion. This is just my opinion. You have to do what you feel is best. I pray God will help you through this difficult situation.

Maybe it's best to study quietly for a while, especially if you are young (people can be prideful and believe that young people have nothing of value to offer them spiritually). Some people have closed their hearts and minds to God and aren't interested in listening to anything that disagrees with their beliefs. The best way to witness is the way in which you live your life. And pray for them.

Sunyata, our vocation is marriage, but yet Jesus would be upset if you left the faith. Keep going to mass, and offer up not having icons as a sacrifice, maybe for the conversion of your wife. I have the same problem, but I keep a rosary in my purse. I have been Catholic 7 yrs and he has not seen my scapular, I am very careful of that. My desk at work
has a small crucifix. We can survive, but don't give up your faith, Satan will have won!

The Holy War 11 - Discerning any vocation takes time. I will be praying for you.

Anytime we can get the people against us to see what we have in common, such as Jesus as Lord and Savior etc it helps. There is too much non-Catholics do not know, but if we can make then see what we have in common, it is a start.

Hi everyone! I was talking to my dad about my Catholicness and he did what I was trying to do! We insteead of looking up all the bad things about each other's faith (his being Southern Baptist) and came to agreements rather than arguments.

beth40n2- ive pondered it but i do not feel a "calling" that i believe you should feel. I have pondered the thought a lot lately.
