If you change rites formally, it will be noted on your Baptism record (like other church events - Chrismation, Marriage, Religious Profession).

I formally changed rites - Private email me if you have questions. Blessings!

thewanderer, in terms of formally switching canonical status, I think it wouldn't be fair to split your intent. Formally changing your status can only be done once, in your lifetime. But, having talked to many Byzantines, they don't see the point of going through the trouble of changing rites formally. They simply say, "just go to liturgy," and other Eastern Christian services. I still go to the Roman church I've been going to, since I moved here, in January 2011. But, I've been going to the Byzantine/orthodox church more consistently. Part of my reason is, I do see myself aligning more with the liturgy, and more importantly, their theological perspective, on the same, or similar dogmas.

Hi, guys. I've been looking for a group such as this. I've been raised Roman, for most of my life. However, I've been attending Byzantine Divine Liturgy for a month, and a half. I also attend vespers at a nearby Orthodox church, since the Byzantine church I've been going to, doesn't offer it.

thewanderer yes. Many Eastern Rite Catholics who move can't find Eastern Rite churches so they attend Roman Rite. I am considering Byzantine Spirituality and Roman Liturgy.

Ok, I have a question, does anyone know if it is ok to switch Rites only for the Liturgy and still remain Latin in spirituality in many respects? Isn't the main difference between Rites precisely that, a difference in Liturgy? (and law of course). I'm pretty sure a lot of people would say not too... But it's also not a good idea to atten a liturgy regularly from a different Rite. So if you were in such q situation, how would you determine what was the way to go?

I LOVE the Byzantine Liturgy... but yeah, there are just so many traditions in the Latin Rite that I really appreciate too. I don't know if I will ever actually switch, but the Byzantine Liturgy is simply amazing!
