Catholic Women Who Veil

Group created by mrscarrera

This old tradition of Veiling seems to be coming back into the Roman Catholic Church! I have began to understand the meaning of Veiling during Mass or Prayer, and other women have too. Please be respectful in these decisions to veil or not to veil, and receive information on the topic :)

"But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a woman is her husband, and the head of Christ is God. Any man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head, but any woman who prays or prophesies with her head unveiled dishonors her head—it is the same as if her head were shaven. For if a woman will not veil herself, then she should cut off her hair; but if it is disgraceful for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her wear a veil.
"For a man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man. (For man was not made from woman, but woman from man. Neither was man created for woman, but woman for man.) That is why a woman ought to have a veil on her head, because of the angels....If any one is disposed to be contentious, we recognize no other practice, nor do the churches of God." (1 Corinthians 11:3-10,16)

    Hello ladies,
I have wanted to veil so badly but I just don't know how it would fit into my life. What would the people ate work say if I suddenly came to work wearing a veil?

Just recently I started using a veil and it is changing the view of my femininity completely. For my personality, I always found difficult to accept in my heart the grandeur of submissiveness and humility. Now, thanks to God my heart is starting to understand. As you said, the most important thing is to carry the veil in our hearts. I think nowadays it also brings symbolism of purity, that it is desperately needed in our society. It does not matter how young or old we are, it is never too late to start wearing a veil.

I don't know if any of you ladies have purchased from a business called Garlands of Grace. They have some very pretty items and I have purchased, however, I've done some research due to something posted today on their facebook page ....

They posted Exodus 20 ... Which we know is not to worship graven images. They posted it about the same time our cardinals were taking their oath. If anyone has ever conversed or even been a Protestant knows this is a verse that is well used against Catholics.

This doesn't appear to be the first time they've spoken out against Catholics.

So, I will no longer buy anything from them.

    God bless you all!

It's great to be here and to share the joy of being Catholic. We are so fortunate to have the intercession and example of our dear Blessed Mother Mary!

Hi everyone! I'm a 15 year old girl who would like to start veiling and wearing skirts to Mass (I just want to look a bit more feminine). But over the Christmas season (when I started wearing a skirt to Mass regularly), my Mom told me that she didn't want me to turn into a "crazy skirt lady", as she calls them. She also told me that the women who wear skirts to Mass nowadays are kind of like outcasts. I tried to remind her that even Our Lord was an outcast when He walked the earth, but she just ignored me. So, out of obedience to her, I quit wearing a skirt, but I still feel a very deep call to veil. If I told her that I wanted to veil, heaven only knows what she would say.
Does anyone have any ideas on what I should do???

I was raised Episcopalian (we are still Anglican at the moment) and we were in a fundamentalist Bible Church for many years. They kept insisting that we "just need to obey the Bible". So I did and got immediate and enduring criticism for covering my head. Then we started taking the Eucharist and strange things happened about 1 out of 3 times that I forgot, mostly demonish nightmares. Woke husband up fighting a few times. "Angels" do seem to be involved somehow. Now husband helps me remember.

I am considering covering my head like the Islamic woman. I feel naked and not modest in church when my head is not covered. Will introduce myself and write more later as I need to do dishes and other household chores.

Since hardly anyone at my parish veils, I have started a 'chapel veil club' where we meet and sew veils (by hand). We plan on making these available for free to others who would like a veil but do not have one. If you know someone who is interested, feel free to pass along my website! We would be glad to sew a veil or two and send 'em along. My website is: http://kit053.wix.com/chapelveilclub

    God Bless!

I recently thought about veiling and found a wonderful website www.veilsandmantillas.com (They also have an eBay page) where they offer beautiful veils for an affordable price. I've only seen one girl at my parish veil and as I am going through RCIA, I figure I should wait, but for anyone interested, the website offers great prices and beautiful veils.
