The Premier See, Hon - Baltimore Catholics

Group created by baltobetsy

Come join us if you live here now, used to live here, wish you lived here, visited Harborplace or the Basilica once, or follow the Ravens, Orioles or Archbishop O'Brien. All Marylanders welcome, from the sandy beaches of the Eastern Shore to the mountains of Garrett County, and even our friends in nearby Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia and DC.

Anyone else in a state of shock (crying like a blubbering idiot) over what our state just decided we all need to be force-fed (question 6)???

I'm sorry this is my first post to this group, but I have to inform you that I received news this evening that Baltobetsy passed away yesterday, on the Feast of the Guardian Angels, to whom she had a great devotion.

Betsy and I have not been in close contact for several years, but I know her health had generally been poor for a long time. I did see her sing in a concert this past spring and she was having a very difficult time walking.

Please keep her and her husband and daughter in your prayers.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord.
And let perpetual light shine upon her.
May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, rest in peace.
    Amen.

Hello, Everyone! Been on Catholic.com for a week or two now, and discovered this group, so thought I would hop on board cause I live in Baltimore.

The installation Mass was lovely, wasn't it? I watched it twice on EWTN! Was anyone there? I notice the Governor made sure to have a prior engagement!

I attended St Anthony on Frankford Avenue and Archbishop Curley. St Francis would be an excellent choice. As a real estate broker I would say that both Mayfield and the Beverly Hills area would be ideal locations to begin your search for housing.
It truly is a great time to be a buyer.

Hi all! Can anyone with little kids (or grandkids) now, or in the recent past, suggest where to send kids to elementary/middle school in Baltimore City? (Mine are still babies but we need to move and I refuse to rent another place; we're buying!) I have my reasons for wanting to stay in the city and I'm not picky about whether the school is public or Catholic; just that if it's Catholic I want the REAL faith taught. In either case, I'll teach the faith at home, too. Any thoughts on St. Francis of Assisi near Mayfield (seems like a GREAT community but the public schools in that zone are the pits...) THANKS for your help! You can email me too. Peace be with you!

Hey, I follow this crew, in no particular order; ok, maybe the O's, which includes the baseball team and the archbishop, of course. O'baseball, O'Catholic - both Irish. LOL.

Baltimore young adults! The Church of Ss. Philip and James will be starting a group for people in their 20's and 30's called the Baltimore Frassati Fellowship (BFF). The organizational meeting, open to all, is on February 2 at 7 pm in the Newman Club House in the basement of the rectory. Rsvp to bff@philipandjames.org . The first BFF hosted event, an evening of praise, worship, preaching, adoration and benediction, will be held in the church on Saturday, February 19, at 7 pm. A coffee and donut social will follow in the Newman Club House.

For anyone who has not heard the good news, the Dominican Friars of the Province of St. Joseph are now in charge of Ss. Philip and James. Three priests are in residence there, Fr. Carleton Jones, OP, pastor, Fr. David Mott, OP, JHU Catholic Chaplain, and Fr. Carlos Quijano, OP, JHU Associate Catholic Chaplain. Mass is celebrated reverently, music is beautiful, preaching is great, and the priests are very, very good in confession. Come and see!

    Visit the website at www.philipandjames.org.
