Protestant who want answers

Group created by Woody87

Just couldnt find a group for me. I am a protestant and have a lot of questions. I am rather blunt, but try to be loving at the same time. It would be awesome if this group could answer my questions, and help others with protestants with theirs.

Also something I came across was Mary being seen as a Co-Redepmtrix. How much latitude is there in the RC's stance on Mary for this to exist? Also I don't quite understand this subject and frankly it sounds heretical. Unless it means something so inconsequential that mentioning it seems silly. At least the one site I found that talked about it had a proof, some might call it a grouping of propositions, that did not really cover what it needed to state all the conclusions that the site came to.

    I have a question,
What do catholics believe about the more charismatic gifts of the spirit tongues and healing ect. ? Are they encouraged and/or nurtured? Can you have a range of views on this if you are RC

    Hello,

I am Catholic because of the rich, inexhaustible heritage of Catholicism which covers the whole of western culture: all the arts, philosophy, sciences, spirituality.

I am Catholic because Jesus Christ did not write a book, but rather founded a church. He created, and still creates, a living community through his apostles and his gift of the workings of the Holy Spirit. The church he founded is the Catholic Church which traces her origin to Jesus directly.

I am a Catholic because of the fully valid sacraments.

And more fully, I am a Catholic because only Catholicism credibly promises the fullness of life to those who follow her teachings.

Catholicism brings all of what's good in the world, and slowly but surely, subjects it to the absolute pronunciation of truth--the Eternal Word, Jesus Christ.

(And when I have doubts about that, there is no other religion or secular philosophy which can assuage my fears.)

Hey New_Yorker thanks for trying. I am not sure how to help you but good luck.

I actually have a question I think will be fun. It is, the number one or two reason/reasons why you are catholic and not protestant or eastern orthodox or for that matter christian at all. I am basically trying to see if there are any reasons why I should convert to Catholicism? I am not really looking for why you are not anything other than a RC.

my last post was disallowed. I logged in, wrote the post, tried to post it, and was told that action was not allowed and I needed to log in, again, and when I did my post was gone, lost.

    Deformed,
Did you ever find an answer to your question I would be interested in hearing how such a thing was rationalized

    Great question deformed
Don't have an answer actually I just got back i was on vacation and forgot to check this forum. I have a question as well I go to newadvent.com to do a lot of research and was wondering if this is the best site to look up things with.
I also had a question about the original sin. From what I can see it seems as though the RCC view and the protestant one are pretty much the same but the way that we use and interpret with this view is completely different. Is there a view from within tradition which says what are happens to babies that aren't baptized and die do they receive grace?

Hi everyone. I just joined this group. I am a Protestant who is very interested in RC. An ex-pastor friend of mine - who is now RC - challenged me to honestly investigate RC. I've been doing that for a little over a year now, and I have been rather surprised at how RC my thinking and approach to my faith is getting. I hope to be able to ask questions that come up.

I recently read something about how the kingdom of God was divided between Jesus and Mary. Jesus keeps the kingdom of Justice, while Mary has the kingdom of mercy. Although I have been praying the rosary and have come to value the role of Mary, that seemed a little over the top. Doesn't Hebrews tell us that "he had to be made like his brothers that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest?
