Protestant who want answers

Group created by Woody87

Just couldnt find a group for me. I am a protestant and have a lot of questions. I am rather blunt, but try to be loving at the same time. It would be awesome if this group could answer my questions, and help others with protestants with theirs.

Ok lets say I am looking at the council of trent or another general synod What is infallible and what isn't. because I understand what is infalible in an encyclical. Is it the canon laws or the general descriptions of them? Oh, and what does it mean when they say "let him be an anathema"?

    Woody87,
I'm not sure if lunatic is a fair assessment, but I think hee represents the attitudes that Vatican II strived to change.

And, only speaking for myself, had there been not Vatican II, I know for a fact I would nevere embarked on the journey that brought be home to the Catholic church.

Change is hard on some people. To me, it appears to have been harder on this guy than on many.

I provided a link to this guys site he is pretty adamant about the subject of vatican II , and how it is basically evil at least not of God. He is catholic by the way. Is there any validity to what he is saying?
I think he is a ranting luny as far I'm concerned. I read another link on his site which told me that I wasn't Cristian if I was not Catholic, and baptized in the catholic church.

Greetings to all, as I am new to the forums. I chose this forum because I have experienced the profound respect most Protestants have for the Bible. As a Catholic raised largely as a Baltimore Chatecism memorizer, they have taught me much about my Catholic faith, and I am sincerely thankful.

The audio CD's available through St. Joseph Communications led me to the outstanding Biblical Scholar and former Protestant minister, Dr Scott Hahn. I value Dr. Hahn for his God given wisdom, but also for his unparalleled ability to explain it clearly to one as slow to learn as I happen to be.

In these times of such difficulty when so many Catholics are villilied for the pedophile priest scandal, the opposition to abortion, same sex marriage etc. I seek to find new and better ways to both learn more about our amazing faith, and pass on the wisdom to others who so desperately need to hear it.

    Woody87,

Although a primary document, sometimes the archaic language makes it difficult for anyone to get a handle on the writings from Trent.

I feel it far easier to turn to the CCC, because so much of primary documents that are difficult to read in their raw formate, are contained in the Chuch's dogma.

I imagine its like reading the gospels. I would love to read them in their original Greek text, but I trust the translations the Church uses are equally inspired by God.

Since I can't understand Greek any better than I can very dated English or Hebrew...its all Greek to me!

I kinda feel like an [(donkey), (I cannot believe that it actually blocked ***)] asking all these questions. Does anyone have any questions for me? No subject is off limits, save proofs those take to long, and dont fit well on a forum like this.
Anyway I have questions for days. I have a hard time understanding degrees of justification. The canon for trent mentions them in short. Does anyone have their head wrapped around the subject?

That is an interesting translation. I do not think that I agree with all of it, but my disagreements are nit-picky so it is probably easier not to state them

    Woody87,

Like so much OT scripture, I see this verse packed with metaphor.

This is a foreshadowing (and first reference to) of a coming redeemer (Jesus Christ).

The woman is Mary, who is obiedent to the will of God in the incarnation of the Son from divinity to human. And, Mary also represents mankind.

The serpant (Satan) strikes the heel of mankind, and Mary's offspring (Jesus) will strike the head of the Satan, so Mary, is striking the head of the serpent through her son, Jesus.

Striking the heel is an agonizing pain, but because of the redeeming grace brought by Christ, it does not have to be lethal; where striking the head (of the serpant) is a lethal blow to Satan's power (sin and death).

    Pax
