johnnyc176. I actually stumbled on the chronological reading of the Bible through an app on my phone. I down loaded a bible app and it offered reading plans. When I saw the chronological plan, I knew that was the one for me. I have read the New Testament a couple of times, but never the whole Bible. I never knew it would be 'ok' to read it in a way other than as written. So, as a history buff and a return-to-faith catholic, I new that this approach was for me.

If you want to know which app I am using, just send me a private message and I'll tell you. I am not sure about the form rules and mentioning products (btw, its VERY cheap!).

martinah.....interesting that you posted that now as I have been listening to a show by Scott Hahn and Jeff Cavins on how to read the Bible chronologically. Is that how you heard about it?

Finally returned to my chronological reading plan today! I am in Leviticus right now. Reading it in context makes me really appreciate how much of this book can be/is taken out of context and abused. To be honest, I find it a difficult read, but I am determined to push through. So far the book I found the most interesting (and relatable) to read was Job. I really felt for the poor guy, but admired Gods admonishment of him at the same time. I'll go back and pick out a favourite quote from Job and post it here tonight.

I see new testament as that way johnnyc176 because they were amazed quite often at what Jesus did. Also in how he handled the religous hypocricy of those days.

Neofight...thank you for your insight (rhymes) on Luke 1:65.

I see fear (as in fear of God) as being like wonder and amazement.

It takes more than prayer tho. Grace is given with faith and with faith comes works which shows the faith we have. But it also takes proclaiming that faith to all we come in touch with. Scripture study is also a big part of it as well.

parable 1 > I agree with you, the only think we should fear is losing are faith, which would damm us to Hell. That why, we must always Pray,so we will be in the state of Grace. Amen

I think in scripture we see fear because they tended to be fearful of God more so than a loving God who sent His Son to rescue us. Today we see many miracles at the church I attend and there is always joy and praise and thanksgiving for what Jesus does for us. The only fear that we should have is the fear of hell for not having faith in Christ first as Lord then as savior.
