Rosary Making Ministry

Group created by vmstevens1

I have started making simple, twine rosaries. They are beautiful and fun to make. They are not easy to make and require patience. I have brought the twine to the social event after Mass, and people, young and old, male and female, want to sit with me and make them. I work on them while riding public transportation and people always ask what I am doing. I learned by watching Greg Willetts, of the Rosary Army on YouTube! I thought it would be interesting to see if others have started similar groups at their churches and how they are doing. Ideas? Photos of their rosaries?

Went to the San Luis Rey mission in Oceanside, CA. I saw the chapel. I was so overwhelmed I forgot to take photos.

But I finished a few more rosaries. Now three of my coworkers have them. And another coworker said he needed one. So I offered to make him one in his choice of color. Hopefully he will appreciate it. And actually use it.

I bought some twine at Michael's. None of it worked the way I wanted. . But it is fun experimenting.

Father Luis said the woman loved the white rosary I made. I'll try to take more photos. But I really want to see photos of others' rosaries.

I found my sacrifice beads yesterday. They almost turned up by themselves the same day that I posted that I was going to look for them. I was cleaning a chair with some bags on the chair and they just fell out. How's that for a "God-incidence" AKA (in the secular world) as a coincidence. Sadly I haven't used them today.

A friend of mine made these sacrifice/good-deed rosaries for us when she had some talks on St. Therese of Lisieux at her house. They're still around somewhere and I'm going to look for them and start doing this again.

I'm also going to try to make a regular rosary using this same format because I often fall asleep or doze off when saying the rosary. At least this way I can continue where I left off and stop guessing at what point I fell asleep. I like the way the bead slip as one goes along and hold their place. I always seem to run out of time but I intend to do this eventually. I hope it will be possible to make a complete rosary this way.

So I made this beautiful purple rosary and went to singe the loose twine. Burnt too much and the rosary was ruined!!! But I'm trying to save it.

So the white one went to the lovely lady who requested the rosary. I left it for Fr. Luis this evening at the parish. I hope she enjoys it as much as I enjoyed making it for her.

Thank you, AveMariaMag7. I was actually looking for instructions for the knotted ladder rosaries like the one shown here http://www.handmadespark.com/myspark...-ladder-rosary .

But thanks for reminding me about St. Therese's sacrifice beads. I once made a set as a child. I even made my own beads!

You were asking about making ladder rosaries AKA sacrifice beads. (I believe St. Therese of Lisieux used these for her sacrifices).

Maybe somebody already sent you/posted the instructions, if not, here's a link that shows how to make them.
