Catholics Reaching Out

Group created by cjjaramillo

In our daily lives we are always caught in conflict with ourselves. We often would like to reach out to others and discuss our conflicts with faith or the various dillema's we face. As well as seeking answers we often like to discuss with others who face the same conflicts in their lives.

so much for reaching out. It's been almost a month since my last post and no-one has answered. I have been praying and asking the Lord WHAT He wants me to do and where He wants me to go. Today I was waiting for the bus to go get some groceries-Which is still a great effort for me since I have never gotten full use of my legs and this South Texas heat is unforgiving, when guess who passes by? Two Mormon missionaries. We talked and they asked if I went to church. I told them no, since my car down, I can't fix it, and there is no bus service on Sundays in my town. He said there were members who had no transportation and others in the church volunteer to give rides-that it would not be a problem. This leaves me with an internal struggle because I love my church yet.......Do you get my point anyone?

I forgot to give credit to the Mormon Church. Two missionary girls were passisng by when I had my accident. And they too, would come over 3 or 4 times a week. One of the girls would help me off the bed and make my bed and they, brought me snacks. When they couldn't come, they would call, ask if I needed anthing and pray with me. Please, someone out there, if you're experiencing this kind of Christian love at you Catholic Church tell me about it and help me not to lose hope in my Church !!!!! I'm still Catholic but I deeply dislike the "alone" feeling.

I wish we had more of a chat-room to really discuss our problems or concerns. This is good but when you "reach out" it's because you're hoping someone will actually be there and this is more like writing in a journal.***I love my religion and we are supposed tolove one another but it seems Catholics are not there for one another. Example: a couple of years ago I broke both my feet and my right leg ! Needless to say I was totally bed-ridden. I live alone (widowed) and have no family, & never had kids. Of all the Catholic friends I had it was my land-lady's cleaning lady who went to her church (Seventh-day Adventist) and told them of my situation. Everyday for weeks I had at least one lady come to see me, bring me a meal, pray with me, and read the Bible. One lady would even bring over her college age daughter on her day off from work to help me bathe. I cannot say I've ever been shown that kind of Christian love from any Catholic Church I've ever belonged to.

I have been praying about a certain situation in my family and even though I know it may not turn out the way I want, I try hard to believe God has an even better plan. So, I was thinking of a time when my husband was planning a surprise birthday party for me. On my birthday, I was waiting for a gift or something special and as the day went along with nothing happening, I was getting mad at him! When the evening came and I went in to the house and everyone yelled surprise! I was so happy but felt so bad that I doubted him all day thinking he forgot my birthday! My point is....I feel that way about God sometimes...waiting for Him to give me what I want and expect, but he has something even better planned, but He can't tell me!

I think a strong youth group in the parish is very impt. We have 2: from about 7th gr to 9th grade and then high school grades (10-12) They take field trips (canoeing, hiking etc) and also do acts of kindness for espec the elderly (raking etc.) we are so lucky we have a priest who is very involved in the kid's life.

I'm not sure how this forum works (how to discuss msgs with each of you) but the biggest issue I am coping(?) with is my daughter who has decided not to practice her faith in the Catholic Church. It has really added a grayness to my faith. Sometimes I feel so sure God is in charge and other times I feel that I am crushed by this fact. We have argued, talked calmly, and she thinks since she "feels" God in this New Faith protestant `church, then she's okay. so I just try not to think too much about it (hah) Any advice?

This group caught my attention also. I have always loved my faith, and trust in God, but I catch my self wishing I could fast forward past the waiting and straight to the good feeling of "I knew God would take care of it"

Hi. The name of your group caught my eye. My name is Christy and I am from So. Texas. Today I feel like reachig out but no-one is there. Even if there was I don't know if I could put into words what I feel. Faith and trust in Jesus I know will bring me through but waiting for the storm to subside is so hard sometimes. Looking forward to inter-action with group.

It's always helpful to me (when I am having the same challenges trying to live a holy life) to find out that everyone, even priests, feel discouraged on a regular basis!

I hope this group will help me and that I can help members as well.
