I'm curious what your Campus Ministry is like. I go to a small Catholic college, where about half of the students identify as Catholic but only thirty or so show up for mass (on a good day). The Campus Ministry at my school needs to be strengthened for Catholics (and also needs to have resources for Protestants and other religious groups as well). What is your Campus Ministry like? What types of programs do you have?

    Hello,
I am part of a Catholic Student Organization at my college campus. We are having a hard time figuring out stuff to do to get involved on campus, have fun, and attract more people to our ranks. Any ideas?

I've made a thread on this subject here. I do believe its very important its a dying virtue and you never find these virtues these days but I'm sure there are devout Catholics who do practice this heavenly virtue. The biggest question you have to ask yourself how bad do you want heaven and are you willing to do anything to get there?

You hear this a lot I've blocked myself from the world because of this reason and try to ignore them but we are thought to pray for the non believers and pray for the conversion of sinners.

    Matthew 5:43-48

43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor[a] and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

I wish people posted more in this group!

I'm a woman so obviously the whole seminary thing just won't work for me haha...

    Looks pretty good...!

I hope there's enough holy men called to marriage. All the young men I know are discerning and I don't want to be that girl that gets in the way of their vocation!

Maybe I should go wait on teh seminary steps as the saying goes...

I can totally relate to this!! The university I go to is really (REALLY) liberal (although we do actually have a Catholic college right smack dab in the middle of it, THANK GOD!). I think the thing that bugs me the most is the fact that I have actually witnessed people who are doing nothing but sitting quietly at the Pro-Life club booth during clubs fair and seeing people walk up to them and verbally assault their opinions. It make me so sad, because first, if that girl was to go and tell the pro-choice group that she doesn't agree, she would probably get called every name in the book, being told that she is hindering other's rights. But don't we, as Catholics, have the same rights? The rights to believe that every life should be given a chance? The right to believe in God? The right to just be Catholic?!
I get so tired of atheist groups and such around campus just ripping Catholics apart. If I said one word to them, it would be that I'm a closed minded Christian.
It takes a lot of prayer and involves a lot of frustration to just keep in mind that there is a time to argue, and a time to just pray about everything and keep trucking. Blah!

    Hi Charlotte,
You have the right to go to the Department Chair and file a complaint about the teacher's bias. I've done that four times and every time the B was changed to an A.

Charlotte408: How about handing your English teacher another paper outlining post-abortion syndrome and how harmful it is to the woman and how abortion clinics hide the fact that it exists and gives the woman faulty information to coerce her into aborting her child? I'm sure she can't do anything about the rights of the woman/mother then...

I'd like to see forums for this group like:
dealing with public education and sifting thru the secular propaganda-
    dating-
how to deal with on campus events that are immoral-

The last ones a good one, I'm in California, go to San Jose City, and back when the whole prop 8 thing went down people were handing out flyers and stuff supporting same sex marriage, a teacher, organized a rally/demonstration where the LGBT came out and spoke about how this was a new 'generation of discrimination'... and most of the college students are high school kids who just soak it all in, without hearing a credible, solid arguement from the other side...

No rally was formed for the opposing side. If I had tried to put one together, Im sure it would have been met with great opposition...

    What can we do??

    Sarah 44:

NO! never...ever...in fact, my teachers encourage critical thinking, open dialogue, and everyone in the class can raise their hand and pitch in their opinion on same-sex marriage, etc, but when I (usually the only one out of maybe 3 any given class) speak out for the other side, they interupt, take another comment, its insane...they dont want to hear what we have to say because it doesnt coincide with ... idk..whatever...

lol...sorry ..its just so obvious the bias in the public school system..

Ok you guys, I dont know how to post blogs or, forum's or however for you all to see it, but my question, and I hope you DO see it, is:

How, do you deal with a secular, feminist teacher?

And lets say, this teacher, is an english teacher, who asks you to write an argumentative essay for or against abortion...and lets say that she specifically says that no religious arguements are to be included because they are unfounded and therefore irrelevant...

how do you still get an 'a' on the paper?!? when all YOUR arguements, say, for the rights of the child, are crossed out and she pencils in 'what about the rights of the mother'??

i mean, i got my paper back and it seems like she was more interested in proving me wrong, instead of how articulate, or organized the essay was...I'm not supposed to be graded on my opinions or beliefs..right??

Is there a way around this, because I HAVE to pass this class...

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't posted in awhile.

Anyway, kevstar31, I was going to ask that same question myself. As for any input, may I ask if this will be a Catholic or secular campus you will be attending?

At the moment, let's start asking and answering questions. That way, we can either give or receive advice.
