Discerning Orders?

Group created by Adrienne5678

Already think you have a call? Now there's hundreds of orders to choose from. This is a place we can all discuss different orders we feel attracted to, or a place to learn about different orders. Everyone can give prayer tips!

This is an online survey, it takes 10 minutes to fill out and it's free. It gives you potential orders that suit your personality and wants. Here it is:

Hi everyone! Sorry this group is a little dead lately, I'll try to liven it up.
I discovered a fairly new order "The Heralds of the Gospel"
I will be doing a week-long live-in with them in Brazil during Thanksgiving.
    They are an active/contemplative order.
Their charism is based upon 3 pillars: The Eucharist, The Pope, and Our Blessed Mother.
I encourage you all to check them out...google them

joined a while back but got really busy and "ADHD'ed ". Anyways previously I was still discerning. Now I know what to do but am a little confused about a few things. First of all don't ask how I know cause it's like breathing. I can't explain how I know how to breath but i do just like I know that I'm meant for religious life. In fact I think I'm meant to start a new order. Thing is I don't know much about the process other then papal approval. Do I come up with a name first? Do I search for like minded men? What do I do? It's going to be a religious order that deals with life and death. abortion, suicide, euthanasia, homicide and capital punishment along with the sick. I would like to know more about the process of starting a new religious order

So, I just joined the group! I'm Nevermore, a recent convert to the Catholic faith. I have felt called to the religious life for the past 5 years, even though I have been Catholic since Easter Vigil 2011.

So far I have felt drawn to cloistered orders including Poor Clares of Perp. Adoration, the Passionists, and the Benedictines of Mary, Queen of Apostles.
Only God knows where He wants me!

Hello! I have just joined Catholic Forums, so I guess I'm a novice I have been discerning religious life for four years, and this year I will be going to a discernment retreat for the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist! I'm so excited! They are semi-contemplative, so they spend a lot of time in prayer, and their apostalate is teaching. I hope and pray this is the order for me.
Adrienne5678- I have met a Benedictine nun before and she was super nice. I'm sure you would have a great time and grow spirtually with whatever order you choose.

Hello everyone: If anyone has any advice on becoming a consecrated lay person with vows (chastity poverty obedience) I would really appreciated it. I wish there was a religious community that would have lay persons who can also take vows, yet living in the world and also be considered fully part of the religious community. I hope this makes sense to whomever reads this. Please , please do send a message if you can assist me.

    Greetings from Lima, Peru

Pray. God will make His will known to you. I would also suggest you visit your parish and make an appointment with your favorite priest there. Take him as your spiritual director. Getting spiritual directors has been recommended by saints! I would also recommend, if you're exploring religious life (which all Catholics should) write to or visit the Superior of the order that catches your eye. Tell him how you feel.
Hope this helped, keep us posted!
