Group created by Curious

For those of us who are often lonely, feel cut off from other Catholics, but would very much like to talk about the faith with like-minded people. For whatever reason you turn to the internet for your faith community: maybe you have a hard time connecting with folks at your parish, maybe your work schedule is crazy, maybe you're just so shy you can barely talk to people.

Here nobody is viewed as "pathetic" for seeking community and friendship online. Thank God for the internet. Thank God for community.

Oh Yorkshiregirl, I sympathize with you. I get a bit tongue-tied sometimes too. I am not too comfortable discussing my faith with people who (a) have been trained as well as Jehovah's Witnesses to refuge anything you say and (b) who are hostile to the One True Faith. I don't think I have the gift of teaching. Perhaps we can just say a prayer for the people who came to your door, that the Holy Spirit will whisper the truth to their hearts!

Aaagh - just had a knock on the door and it was the Jehovahs Witnesses - he said 'hi we're from...' and all I could do was say lamely - Oh we're Catholics - we go to church and everything!'

They were (as they always are) very nice and had it not been so late, dark and my kids tea-time I might have invited them in and tried to remember some of the apologetics I have learned from CAF but I wimped out completely !
    Oh well ...

    Hi Anna
I had heard of the 'brother and sister' thing on the forums here but my priest didn't mention it so I wasn't sure whether to bring it up - yes I'm going to blush as well now but, even though we are only really a 'twice a month and birthdays' (aargh ) couple, my DH is not a catholic and so I'm not sure he would understand or agree to such an idea. If only I knew, or at least had an idea, of how long that kind of situation would have to last....

    Hi everyone,

yorkshiregirl: do not be worried for the waiting, you have done your part and all you needed to do. You have reasons to be in peace now.
Forgive me if I dare, but if you and your husband live "like brother and sister" , I think you can receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and of the Eucharist. Maybe you want to ask a priest. I hope I am not saying something silly...

Hi Everyone - Hope your November is going well and not too wet, wild and windy as it is here !

Haven't been around to post lately as have been decorating my DD's room - oh so much pink !! - but she loves it and has promised to keep it tidy (or at least to try) so heres hoping !

I have something to share - all the paperwork for my convalidation has been sent by my priest to the Bishop for him to do whatever he has to do - so exciting! - but I have no idea how long this will take so could I ask for your prayers that it will all go ok and will come back quickly. I would love to be 'ok' with the church by Christmas but obviously that's getting a bit close now unfortunately. There should be no real 'impediments' as it is our only marriage and so no annulments or anything so hopefully it will be straight forward. Just can't wait though now - can't believe I had such a blessing before, with all the sacraments, and treated it so lightly

Wonderful news, Miss Linda and Onyx88.

I just wanted to share a very beautiful Scripture verse I read this morning. "And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand" (John 10:28). What a glorious promise from our Savior!! I will be going to Eucharistic Adoration after work today, and plan on meditating on this verse during that time. How truly wonderful that I can kneel in the very presence of the One who spoke these words!!!!!!!

That is such wonderful news, Onyx88! Praise the Lord!!! Our Bishop is launching a "Coming Home for Christmas" initiative on the first day of Advent, to welcome lapsed Catholics back to the fold. What a beautiful time to come back into the Church!
