Pray for an increase in faith, then listen in your heart.

The truths of our religion have always been true no matter what people thought was true.

God has been with you all along throughout your journey and will be with you to the end.

    God bless +
    Peace be with you+

instead of the Liturgy of the Hours valid?

I am not speaking of it as a private devotion. I am asking if praying the MD is "praying with the Church"?

I mean absolutely no disrespect to those who pray the MD in any way. I am interested in it, but I want to be praying with the Church, above all.

    Thank you.

Hello Jason. It is interesting that you should post this now. Yesterday I made my full oblation at St Gregory's Abbey. Yesterday was our annual Spring Oblate Day. Were you there? I also received your message and I'll probably continue this discussion by email, though since it is the middle of the night as I write this, that will be later today or tomorrow. Indeed I hope you do consider becoming a part of the St Gregory family. Welcome.

Hi Luigi . . . your pictures compliment one another beautifully . . . the first post with our holy father St. Benedict looking up to heaven with his eyes upon our . . . Gracious God . . . his Holy Rule in hand . . . while raising his hand in blessing . . . the second with St, Benedict looking directly out to his flock having his Holy Abbot's Shepherd's Staff in hand . . . while raising his hand in blessing . . . the colors are so rich in these paintings . . . great additions . . . God bless . . .

Well, I finally got an answer. I begin on 13Sept2009!!! Woohoooo
The first "official" meeting is 8November2009 (with a Monk priest),
My wife picked up the materials for me (God bless her) yesterday. Turns out the couple who hosts the meetings in their home were next door neighbors of my wife and her family. Hand of God, IMHO, brothers and sisters.
Please keep me in your prayers, as I will you

+ Hi Mylo . . . I loved your sharing about the Divine Office for Dodo's treasure with us . . . several years ago I went into our little Catholic bookstore here in our city . . . wanting to buy the Liturgy of the Hours . . . and when inquiring where it was . . . the clerk launched into a disertation on the many available books and variations of same on the subject . . . drowning me in questions of what I should actually be buying . . . and I hadn't the slightest inkling whatsoever of how to proceed . . . to this day I don't think I've entirely recovered from that deluge of information . . .

    Our Forum member SuscipeMeDomine shared the phrase . . . in another thread . . . far far away . . . from this one . . . the phrase being . . . "information dump" . . . marvelous description . . . Even though its been several years . . . I'm still struggling out from under the crippling . . . "waaaaaaaaay too much information" syndrome of that "dump" I encountered . . . I'm definitely going to try to buy a copy of your little book . . . thanks so much. . . ! . . .

Dedicated to the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart . . . God bless . . .

+Hi Nannyma . . . I'm so glad you found the August 19th . . . Divine Office . . . sharing a blessing . . . I've found the "Universalis" website a very helpful reference guide . . . just wish they weren't using "modernized' texts of Sacred Scripture and the ageless prayers of our Holy Church . . . the depth of the beauty of their . . . wisdom and holiness . . . is partially lost by this endeavor . . . but I truly appreciate all the wonderful hard work they have done in gathering together and organizing the material for us . . .

    God bless ! . . .

    Hello Benedictine Family,
When I saw the readings for the short hours of Terce,Sext and None I said walla!
At the Monastery we belong to we were given a sheet with all the hours during Ordinary Time and their psalms but that was all that was given. I missed the readings and lessons that are included in all of the hours. So whwen I saw your readings and the site listed I said: "my friend did it again!" You certainly do dig out what is relavant to all of us and you continue to do this,God has blessed you in this and you have accessed His Blessings on you, May the Lord be everPraised and Adored! The sheet with the psalms that I follow is in a book that came up when I googled "monastic psalms" entitled "The Liturgy of the Hours in East and West: origins of the Divine Office by Robert Taft. The page that I use is Page 137 you will see the line-up of psalms for all the hours for Ordinary Time.
Now I will spend some time on the site you gave us to see if I can find the readings and lessons as well. Of course we're speaking Ordinary Time but one thing at a time. If it is meant to be it will come. God Bless and thank you, nannyma
