Wow. Not a lot of messages. Hopefully more people will find this group. I have lived in southern California near Santa Barbara. I have family there and spent many school vacations there with my grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends. I love the beach and miss living there so much! I have lived in Sacramento. I liked it there, too. The people were friendly, I've got lots of friends there and plenty of relatives. There was always something to do. Right now I'm in the very center of California. I live in a small town in "farm land." I do like living in a small town. It is quiet, peaceful, and you run in to people you know often. I like the close-knit community feel. Overall, California is wonderful. I can see why people want to move here from out of state. Even though I like where I am living at right now, I hope I will end up on the coast one day.
There's not a lot that goes on where I live right now. There are fairs throughout the year for the Civil War, Renaissance, October Fest, the summer carnival, Portuguese Soupish festival, and the Farmer's Market is a big deal on the day it comes. lol

Hello fellow Catholic Californians! I'm fairly new to CAF and just found this group today. We live in Newbury Park (near Thousand Oaks, East Ventura County). I was confirmed as an adult, Easter 2001, here in our parish, St Julie's. I love the Catholic faith and really feel a part of this church. Our kids were all baptized here and are continuing at various stages of growing up as Catholics. My youngest son will make his First Communion in the spring.
The holidays are my favorite time of year. I love Advent and Christmas Eve Mass. Although our church no longer has midnight mass because the choir has to perform at 8am on Christmas Day.
DH is a cradle Catholic raised in the SF Valley. He graduated from Allemeny (sp?) in 1980. A few years ago, we officially had a Sacramental marriage.
Looking forward to sharing with everyone!

Hello all...looking forward to participating in the group. I'm originally from the SF Bay Area (South Bay). BTW...one thing I learned when I moved up to the Northwest: I always told people I was from "Northern California," but they would always ask.."Yreka, Redding, Weed?" Apparently, the Bay Area isn't North enough.
