Hi again, So far, I have been able to provide rides to women in need, because I can, thanks to the Lord and a husband with a good job.

Hi all, I am just starting to help with the Society of St. Vincent De Paul in Michigan. I'm sad to hear that some of you aren't happy with it. I hope to serve God through this avenue and witness of the love of Christ when I can.

    Hello friends,
I hope I can crash this group. I donated to my parishes SVDP and prayed for them but was unable to be acitve visiting because of my commitments to my small children. I'm in Germany now and I'm not sure how to connect here...does anyone know what the organization is called in Germany?

I had the good fortune to work for the St. Vincent de Paul Society with a great Sister. I have been a member for a year now.

I have been interested in joining the Society of St. Vincent De Paul for some time but how does one go about joining the society? Also, what exactly do members do besides run a thrift shop?

I try to visualize helping the less fortunate as a sort of "Pass-it-on." You help someone, they feel happy because of it, and say something kind to someone else, who then also passes along that kind feeling...etc. It's a good feeling to wonder what your act of kindness will do as it works its way through the world.

This is so sad . I am surprised to hear this, the parish I work at has an active SVdP confernece and they offer Masses regularly, pray at their meeting. I haven't witnessed a home visit so I can't say about that. My prayers are with you as you keep these parish volunteers in yours

In my hometown, members of a certain SVDP conference perform acts of mercy (providing food, distributing money or things, home visits, etc) without openly proclaiming Christ. They neither pray collectively as a group before opening or after closing their soup kitchen or before distributing alms. During home visits, the Good News is hardly ever mentioned.

By not publicly acknowledging Christ, they are no better than secular organisations doing similar charitable work.

    Do you agree?

    In Christ's love
