    Hello,

I have been praying the rosary for 4 years now and it has brought tremendous peace to my life. I have recently started making rosaries and giving them away. I place an ad on craig's list for a free rosary and get quite a few requests. I have also now placed an ad in our local smart shopper paper too.

The rosary draws me ever closer to Jesus and the Divine Mother. My wife and I enjoy making rosaries for those in need both near and far. Would love to be in touch with others that craft rosaries too. We currently make only plastic beaded ones with knotted cord.

Looks like it has been a while since there has been a posting. If you have a love of making the rosary, drop a note here, so we can share your joy with you

I still have not figured out how post my pictures here, but I was able to post them to another site. If you guys have heard of www.awestruckglobal.com. Its free and kind of like facebook, for Catholics. I created a rosary makers group there and uploaded some photos of my rosaries to it.

I had a friend ask me about making a rosary of the seven dolors (or sorrows) of Mary (http://www.catholic.com/quickquestio...-dolors-rosary). After looking at various websites on what is looks like, has anyone made a twine, or even beaded, rosary of this type?

    Peace!

What a dope I've been! The new knotting tools came in, 4 at 8-1/2" long. I fretted about having to hunt for a bigger camera case. It never occurred to me to cut the tools in half, use a rattail rasp on the cut-off ends and I will end up with 8 knotting tools.

I can go back to Walmart and pick up an el cheapo camera case and some folding scissors and I'm good to go.

    Thanks to all who responded.

    Hi angelcoco,
I got onto rosary making earlier thus year. I make knotted twine rosaries and single decade bracelets. I have recently started using metal beads for the rosaries (was already doing so with bracelets).
Sorry, but I do not understand what is meant by mission style rosary. I would like to know how to make chain link rosaries.

I am new to these forums and to forums in general so I apologize if these questions have been answered already.

    God Bless

Hi Tonix, am so sorry I was not here to answer your questions. I had to take some time off...I lost my mom last December and I guess it has taken me sometime to recover... If you are still in this group and would like to comunicate with me I be glad too.

I know what you mean about the Flex Wire...Did you know that one can use regular fishing line to make a Rosary. I found out a long time ago that before Flex wire or the likes people used fishing line. In my private collection I have 2 that I know have been around more that 40-50 years.

Fishing lines come in various weights and it is quite strong and very pliable. I would not let a child play with it, but then one should not let a child play with it. I have used it many times over and no one has complained. Of course, I let them know that it is fishing line.
Well Tonix if you are around give me a holler and maybe I can be of some help. God Bless you and yours, Angel hugs, Coco

As for the question about the crucifix versus the cross, idol worship, and blessings. Personally, as a Catholic, I'm old-fashioned and don't see a rosary with a cross and no corpus as a real rosary. It might be a nice piece of artwork or jewelry, but it's not a rosary. But, my opinion has nothing to do with any church laws or rules. There's no where I know of that states what does and doesn't constitute a rosary or a chaplet. It's just me being an old fashioned Catholic. I'm used to seeing a crucifix (cross with corpus) on a rosary rather than cross alone. Objects such as rosaries, statues, or even water don't, by themselves, convey or produce sanctifying grace. Objects such as these, especially when blessed, are called sacramentals - not to be confused with sacraments such as baptism, matrimony, hold orders, reconciliation, etc., which do produce grace. The rosary is a tool to assist a person in prayer - nothing more, nothing less. If a person believes that the tool is their god and has magical power, then this is idolatry. A person may get their rosary blessed. The blessing doesn't confer any special magic on the rosary (or whatever object is being blessed). A priest prays to God for us that He will bless the rosary or object to be of good use to us and increase our faithfulness, or to better assist us in prayerful conversation with our Lord. Personally, I have no problem seeing the young kids wearing rosaries as jewelry. If, perhaps, some day they take the rosary off and wonder what it's really for and begin praying it, then it will be a blessed day for that kid and everyone. I do have a problem with people using rosaries in awful ways because of what the rosary means to me.

I like to use Snapeez II Ultraplate jumprings on all the jewelry and rosary pieces I make. See www.viamurano.com. They come in all various sizes, finishes, and base metals. Plus, they cut the splits in such a way that when you join the ends they sort of snap together tightly. See their video on their website. I have never had a problem with chain links or other findings slipping through the split, and I've never had to solder the splits (or dab a little gel superglue on the split). They're a bit pricier than bead stores or hobby stores, but they're nice and well worth it. The most comprehensive supplier of jewelrymaking supplies is probably Rio Grande. See www.riogrande.com. They'll send you their giant catalog if you buy something off their website. It's really incredible. Way more stuff than you'll find at a local bead store. I also like cruising the bead shows that come to town. See www.intergem.com. Lots of vendors selling beads, findings, and chain, although not many sell quality inexpensive crucifixes and centerpieces. Pax et Bonum!

Greetings Rosary makers, my name is Arturo and I'm a beginner Rosary maker. I ordered my kit from Our Lady's Rosary Makers, in Louisville, Kentucky, and so far, I have made three! Yay! I have given them away to people I know I'm sure haven't used them, and probably won't ever use them, but then you know the saying, "Hope springs eternal!" Right? I made a personal commitment with the Lord in that I told Him I would make one decade a day. I think that's pretty good for starters, don't you?

Hi. I make prayer blankets. I pray and ask God to help me choose the colors, size and pattern of the blanket. I have been doing this for over ten years. It has grown and I have learned so much about God's love. I trust God more because I see his love for us. I pray for the person who receives as well as their family, all I have give to and those who I will give to. God invites us we only have to say yes. J M J.
