    Good afternoon, Miss Gail,

    Good to see your post.

That's something I could never understand, is lambasting or condemning people with different views of the same faith. I try to respect even people with a different faith.
Anyway, I'm glad you stayed with CAF.
Ok, I'll leave at you and I have differing views on Genesis.
I hope you and the Biblical scholar enjoy your coming conversation.

Yesterday we had a snow flurry with sparse tiny snow flakes. That was about it, here. Maybe that's all ya'll get, when it gets there.
smile - I'm always glad to share our weather with a friend up north - snicker.

I'm sure your administrator will be pleasantly surprised and I think you're wonderful for doing that.

Thanks for sharing Luke 2, 8 - 16. Oh, how I would love to have seen such a great host of angels. I think Jesus was born then, because there were many people who would believe, not like now.

Actually, I no longer have a thermometer on the outside wall of my house. So, I rely on an internet NOAA page for Fort Worth weather. Which data are from the local airport, about six or so miles from my house.

Well, I have ordered my gifts for Chanuka and Christmas, to send to my family and a Catholic elderly couple. My twin married a Jewish girl. He never converted to Judaism, but he still presides over the holiday festivals at home and goes to synagogue with his wife.
He also sent me the gift I asked for, God bless him.
My other really big Christmas treat, is getting back in touch with my God-daughters. They were glad to hear from me.

    God loves you,
    Don

    Evenin' Mr. Don,

Seems I got into a bit of trouble with that Adam and Eve post. One guy was really nasty. At that point I almost left CAF. But decided one guy who blazed away at me wasn't enough of a good reason.
You and I apparently don't have the same point of view regarding Genesis, and we can leave it at that. But one of our priests has a friend who is a biblical scholar and we shall have a conversation at some point.

Anyhow, heard you got same snow--not you--that white stuff! We had a London fog day yesterday and 100% humidity. Yucky. Now rain with some snow coming our way from your way--thanks a lot.

Our administrator shared with me back in August (I'm sure he forgot) that he would like a statue of the Virgin Mary of each of our 5 cultures for the rectory. So, I thought I would get him Our Lady of Guadalupe, appropro as he is from Columbia. However, it mushroomed into all 5 statues. Each culture purchased their own patroness and we will present them to him after one of the Masses this weekend. He knows nothing of this. I had to involve one of the other priests and swore him to secrecy ! I will let you know how it turns out. I will be saying a short opening/greeting and then the jpresenters will present in their own language and in English. I hope he is thrilled.

For Nine Carols I read Luke 2: 8-16.

Your temps are different because they are not taken in your back yard. Ours are sometimes different because they come from the airport which is a few miles away

    Peace,
    Gail

    Good afternoon, Gail,

    Good to see your post.

Time slips by me, too. Sometimes, I even lose track of which day it is. When that happens, and my computer is off, there's a telephone number I can call that has a recording with the day, date, time and a brief weather blurb. The temperature it gives is usually six or so degrees cooler than outside. Why, I don't know.

I'm glad you enjoyed the Nine Carols and got to read. What scripture did you read?
That's the first I've heard of a Midnight Mass for January 1. I hope it works out and enough people attend it.
Even not working, like you, I don't ordinarily stay up late, especially to midnight. So, I hope your nap gets it done for you.

I'm doing better than I deserve and the dogs are in good spirits. I thank God for my neighbors, especially AJ.

We have a dry cold front in for a few days. It's not bad during the day, up in the 50's.
What was your high temperature, there? We've been having cold and warm weather, back and forth. Our high in November was the low 80's, if I remember right.

Things are routine, here, in the house.. We have really been blessed, in that when there was stormy weather, it went around Fort Worth.

    God loves you,
    Don

    Hi, Don,
Golly gee, has it really been 2 weeks! Tempis fugit. I sometimes feel I just lose days somewhere along the way. LOL
They've got me counting the offerings in church and that takes all of Monday morning.
We had our Nine Carols and Readings last night and it was beautiful as usual. I was asked to read a passage, quite an honor.
For the first time we are having a midnight Mass on Dec. 31, with Adoration starting at 4 followed by Benediction and Mass. I hope we have a good turnout since this is New Year's Eve. I was also asked to read at this. Will have to take a nap in the afternoon. I usually go to bed at 10 and haven't seen midnight for so long.

Hope you are well. And God and the weather are treating you good.

Weather setting record highs here, but that is all aobut to change with a cold and wet front coming in.

    Peace,
    Gail

    Hi, Gail,

    Thanks for writing.
    My privilege to serve, ma'am.
My father and most of my uncles on both sides of our family served in WWII. Thank God, they all came home.

Thanks for the info. I'll look up Americares on the 'net. I haven't asked the VA, I'll try to get to my Patient Advocate and ask if he knows any charity plumbers. I guess I could also call my chapter of the American Legion.

Thanks for straightening me out about the Festival of the Nine Lessons.

Yes, giving my neighbor a hand reminded me I'm still good for something. That's a morale lifter. smile.

Sometimes I just wake up around 4 AM. Usually, it's around 6 AM. Other times, I sleep in until any hour. But, I try to schedule my bedtime from 10 PM to 6 AM.

Well, our recent norther is fading away, now. Tonight will be in the 50's and tomorrow in the 70's. The sunshine was so good, today, it was in the 60's with a wind over 20mph. So, we have some days of pleasant weather coming, now.

Did you ever read Mark Twain's "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court?" I think I did, but it was a long time ago. (next tongue in cheek) Did you know that Yankee? smile.

    God loves you,
    Don

    Hi, Don,

Happy Veteran's Day, and thank you for serving. We said prayers at Mass today for all the vets. I had three uncles serve, Army and Navy.

Glad you are all ok. Weather seems to play a big part in the old psyche. I know plumbers are expensive. Can't the veterans help you out? Or even the church? Americares also helps out folks who need it. There are others and there may be some in your neck of the woods.

The service isn't a Mass. It is a celebration of sorts. Lasts about 90 minutes.

Isn't it great that we can still be useful in our dotage! We may not get paid in real dollars but the good feelings overcome that.

You get up when I do. Usually around 5:30-6. Habit I reckon. And by 7 I think everyone should be up so I can call them. (I don't. lol) Usually do some reading, maybe housework--that's a real maybe. Can always do it tomorrow which hardly ever comes.

Cold spell coming through from our neighbor Canada. It's so windy that more trees have fallen and folks without electric again after just getting back on. So far, I'm ok.

    Peace,
    Gail

    Good morning, Gail,

    Good to see your post.

I'm glad you didn't lose your electricity.

Me and the dogs are fine. I am thankful for the cooler weather. We've been blessed here in Fort Worth, that recent thunderstorms went around us.
I know about how big a difference that warm water means. This house has been without hot water because of plumbing since last winter. The other bills have kept me from getting a plumber.

Well, I've been missing church these recent weeks, because of a nagging cold. However, yesterday and the day before, I've been blessed to be a help to a neighbor, in getting his computer set up going. Helping him has boosted my morale, because I'm still good for something.

Your Festival of the Nine Lessons intrigues me. How long is that Mass?

I've had a little trouble with my own computer. But it's still working.

Actually, I've just woke up and am still sipping my first cup of coffee.

I'm glad you're in good spirits. I'll feel better when the sun comes up.

    God loves you,
    Don

    Don, Greetings,

I hope this Autumn finds you and the "kids" in fine fettle. With the weather becoming cooler, it usually puts us in a better mood.
Just don't know where the time goes. It's true as we get older, time flys. Nice weather here, but still folks without power. My daughter came down to take a shower and get warm!

Busy with church stuff. Should never have said Yes to the first request. It just mushroomed into so many other things. But I do love being busy and it is helping out.

We have a service called Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols. It is 9 readings from the Bible from Genesis to the birth of Christ; after each reading is sung an appropriate carol. It's really a beautiful service. I was asked to read # 7,
    Luke2:8-16 .

    Peace,
    Gail

    Good evening, Gail,

    Good to see your post.

Oh, that's right, you live south of Boston, you mentioned.
I've only drove through Connecticut on the way to Boston, didn't stop while going through there.
Oh, no, I wasn't in the military then. A friend and I delivered a car from north of Dallas, TX to Stoneham, Mass, just north of Boston. That was my transportation to Boston: from which I was going to try to get a job on a ship going to Jaiffa, to work my way to Jerusalem. Didn't work. My uncle in Rhode Island told me that Boston was no longer a major shipping hub, I should have gone to Houston. And, there I am in Rhode Island on the way to Boston, and I should have gone to Houston, not even 300 miles from Fort Worth where I started. So, I got a job as a security guard in Boston for the summer. I had a great time.

Yes, I am doing better now, thank you. smile.

I hope your nor'easter has no more than gale force winds. Those are bad enough. As a matter of fact, I hope the nor;easter does not even approach gale (similar to tropical storm rating, nowadays) force.

Yes, retirement (I say that instead of calling myself out of work - smile) has its benefits. And, yes my limited income keeps me out of trouble, on my part of this. grin.

Thank you, ma'am, for your well wishes regarding my weekend. May you have a blessed weekend, as we say in these parts. (Usually, it's "Have a blessed day.", but I extend that to the whole weekend, on a Friday evening.)
Yes, sadly, every day is like a weekend day, when retired.

    God love you,
    Don

    Hi, Don,

No, I don't live in Boston, I thought you were stationed there at one time. I'm in Fairfield County, Conn.

Electrical storms can be scary, but am glad you are all right.
I hope you are feeling better, its been a while, so I assume you are hale and hearty.

We are about to get an Autumn nor'easter. First they said we on the shore would only have rain, but they keep changing it. Now it's 2-4 inches, with mighty powerful winds. One of the problems is that there are so many leaves still on the trees and if the snow is wet--and it mostly likely will be--power lines could come down. Oh, well, we'll see what happens.

I think I am busier now than when I actually worked for a living. This is good though, keeps me out of the bars! lol

You have a wonderful weekend--but for us every day is a weekend. ha ha

    Peace,
    Gail
