    Dear Mary,

Welcome Home! So happy to learn that you have joined the Legion of Mary in your parish! What type of ministry are you involved in for your Legion work? I'm assuming you have become an Active Member.

Our parish has a small Active membership, 9 as of today; but our Auxiliary membership is now at 74. We are praying that we may grow in both memberships. I am an Active member. I began as a Junior Legionary when I was in HS but am now serving in the adult Legion.

Good to hear from you! Our Praesidium is "Queen of Peace". Write again and tell us more about your experience of the Legion at your parish.

    Prayerfully,
    MariaChristi

    Dear Maria,

Good to hear from you again. I talked to Bernie yesterday and her husband is coming home from the Nursing facility today. Please continue to keep that couple in your prayers.

Our Praesidium is still not growing in Active members, although our Auxiliaries continue to grow in number, thanks be to God. Thanks so much for your prayers, please keep them coming!

    Love,
    Maria Christi

Is this a new Praesidium that you are starting?

I love the Legion and I always offer the members to God through our Blessed Mother. With our Mother's help nothing is impossible and everything is achievable. I always look forward every Saturday because this is our meeting day. I have the meeting for the senior in the morning and the junior in the afternoon. I love working with the juniors and I love all of them. I am very fortunate to be a part of both Praesidium. Our members are all very good and devoted to the Legion.
I wish you all the best in your Praesidium and I hope you will find the suitable place for your meeting. You know what, when we were having problem on where to have the meeting for our 2nd Junior Praesidium, I was in tears and everybody was telling me that the Blessed Mother will find a way and true enough, the catholic school being part of the Parish allowed us to use one of their rooms for a meeting place,so put your trust in God and our Mother.

I love to hear how your Praesidium is going. What is the name of your Praesidium and where is it located?

There was a time when I kept saying " I don' have the time to become an active member". I am working full time and I have a granddaughter that I need to look after and on top of that, I had a liver transplant a few years back but it's amazing how God helps you find the time once you are there.
I am now the vice president for our junior group where my granddaughter is also a member. I also join the RCIA group which is one of the active work of the Legion and the meeting for this is at night so I can attend the meeting.
Home visitation and hostel visitations are works that can be done during the weekend.
As long as you have the desire, the Blessed Mother will help you find the time. What is required , is that you do two hours of active work for the week and it does not have to be done in any particular day.
For me, the legion work became part of my social life and one of the benefit is that I was able to get my granddaughter really active in the legion that she also became an altar server.
To Jesus Through Mary, nothing is impossible.

I remember there was a praesidium in our curia reported that they experience riding a small boat just to home visit. It was after the typhoon Ondoy hit our country and leave many places flooded for more than a month. This legionaries wasn't stop by this scenario, but instead get motivated to do more. Thinking to bring Mary to the houses of this people who are very much bothered at that time sure help them strengthen their hope and faith to our Lord. Congratz to you brothers and sisters! Great job!

This is a wonderful question. The answer is very clear and I encourage you to read P. 92-4 in the legion handbook. Point #3 states "daily recitation of an Office approved by the Church, especially the Divine Office or a substantial part of it, for example, Morning and Evening Prayer."

I, too, am a Lay Carmelite. The prayer lives complement each other and the work we do. Our Lady asks each to do the best not the most. Quality of time in your prayer life will draw you deeper. Accept the gift you are being given in the spirit of love and charity to serve Our Lord through His Mother.

There are days when things don't go as planned. Our Lady knows my heart. I lift my thoughts to her. On more than one occasion, I have said all my prayers at bedtime. Some days are like that.

Hi Karenanna, I am not sure which part of the prayers you find taxing. Is it the rosary or the saying of the magnificat? These are the two prayers we encourage our auxiliary members as well as the active members to pray every night.
When I say the rosary, I think about the life of Jesus because this is what the rosary is all about from the annunciation up to His resurrection and that of our Blessed Mother's assumption into heaven. I find both prayers beautiful.

I am an auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary. Often I find it taxing to say the special prayers required for the Legion members, but say them anyway. (Other prayers don't affect me in this way). Last night I had a bright idea. I say the prayers silently, but it occurred to me to add a kind of Gregorian Chant to them. I don't sing them aloud, but in my mind. I think that the Legion prayers will be a lot more enjoyable in the future using this new idea.

We had our annual recruitment drive last Sunday and it was really nice to see young people interested in the Legion of Mary. Even if we only get one or two people to become active member, I already consider that a great blessing.
I did a talk after the mass and as I was going out of the church, this 26 yr,old man, approach me wanting to become an active member and not just an auxiliary and I felt the presence of our Blessed Mother guiding us.

Are there any Legionaries who are also members of the Militia Immaculata, the lay order founded by St Maximilian Kolbe and connected with the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate? I have always been interested in their spirituality, and would like to know if anyone has experience of both? Would such a devotion be too much? I think the MI's only require one meeting a month.
