OCD/Scrupulosity Group

Group created by AFCatholic

This group is for those who suffer from a religious form of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). From the Scrupulous Anonymous website "Older people may be troubled about past sins, others agonize about problems of obedience and purity, and many worry about sin where there is no sin. Their fear and anxiety prevent them from making decisions lest they be wrong ones." This forum is for discussion and encouragement.

Problem is it has to be covered 100% by insurance. I haven't paid the copays from my last therapist. My wife refuses to pay any of my bills , esp. when it comes to that. Guys, I'm stuck in a bad situation...

Samson - I'm glad to hear that your wife will be able to keep on working. I had a great experience with a social worker who i saw once a week for a year. She listened a lot, and just getting out my thoughts, feelings, and plans helped me to straighten out and make good changes in my life.
P.S. I love your new avatar!

Mikayla - I'm sorry that your search is taking a long time. I'll pray that you will find someone who will be able to help you a lot!

Hey all, I think I need to get some therepy, but don't think the therapist can really understand where I'm coming from.. Part of me doesn't want to do it at all. I don't trust them to say the least, but eager for answers...

Thanks Mikayla, I sent my wife an email destined for my parish Priest about the US gov't defunding planned parenthood...lol. They screen the emails at DHS, so I bet they are wondering what the heck I'm talking about. It is raining hard outside now and I want a beer. My mind is mush after this past week. The kids can home from school and started raiding the fridge, fighting over a half sub that was eaten last night. Wow, enough to drive a sane person crazy.

Seems my wife will keep working through any possible shutdown. Not sure how they are going to handle the pay still.
Feeling real foggy after taking my meds last night. Sending emails to the wrong people, stuff like that...

Gods Holy Will, My search is taking a long time. Samson, I am so sorry to hear about all that.

I have a new issue. Last night I went to a sermon, and the priest talking said it is idolitry to say that you are without sin. I know that i have sin, but I keep feeling unsure wether or not I have sinned since my last confesion. i am not trying to tell myself that I am without sin, but I keep feeling giulty because of it and I cannot seem to stop obsesing about this. I am almost 100% sure i have sinned since my last confession and i think that this is just my pride talking. I hate my pride! I seem to go between two kinds of pride: False humility and the regular kind of pride.

Because i sometimes get very proud i sometimes even doubt that I am scupulous at all! I know that I am, but my pride can almost deceive me.
    Any advice from any one?
    Mikayla

At least some people with scruples, like me, see issues as wanting to just "do the right thing", or dosomething "the right way". No room for mistakes, or it will be a "sin". Perfectionism is a big factor, and since we are so focused on not sinning, we fail to see the aniety and worry that it causes. Neither of these are of God. It's always a struggle for me, but with a good spiritual director, it helps to discern what is of God, and what isn't. Ann

Battle Warrior, they say "go to Joe". Sometimes praying for others help kickstart the prayer life too.
