OCD/Scrupulosity Group

Group created by AFCatholic

This group is for those who suffer from a religious form of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). From the Scrupulous Anonymous website "Older people may be troubled about past sins, others agonize about problems of obedience and purity, and many worry about sin where there is no sin. Their fear and anxiety prevent them from making decisions lest they be wrong ones." This forum is for discussion and encouragement.

Thank you so much for taking the time to offer suggestions. I try to focus on offering up my suffering but then I admit I sometimes fall in to self pity. With all these med changes I become discouraged. I really get alot out of my daily rosary and just think type prayer off and on though out the day. If I think too much I get too depressed so I have to aim for balance.
    God Bless

GHW, I'm glad the night brought some healing. I woke up to a house that was 59 degrees F, burrr. Let the fire go out and that is what I get. Should be warm by noon.lol. Samson

Samson - I am soo happy to hear from you my dear friend and that you liked the things I posted!!! I have to tell you of a miracle!!!! Yesterday I was truly heartbroken and so sad, but after much sleep, I woke up this morning to realize that Jesus had healed my soul over night!!!! My heartbreak is completely GONE and I'm doing totally fine!!!!!!! Our Lord is beyond good!!!! You are soooo right about how heartbreak makes us realize how much Jesus loves us. I don't know how or why, but I realize now how much more Jesus loves me than I ever realized and I am beyond grateful for His love! No human love can compare!!! God truly can bring good out of everything for those who love Him!!! I will keep dear Fr. Bill in my prayers...

My parish priest is not going to return as pastor. Fr. Bill is fighting throat cancer and the Bishop wants him to concentrate on getting better. Sounds like my own stint with the Army. This is going to be tough for him as he is very dedicated. Samson.

Hi everyone and welcome new folks... My internet was down for a day, but missed alot of ground in the group it seems.

Halx, yes, the Church is challenging like the Gospels are. Not much more I can add to that.

PMOL Be assured of our prayers.

GHW, welcome back, heartbreak is a deeper lesson in loving the way the Lord loves us. I think I can understand a bit. You knew I would really like the writings you provided. Thanks, they really hit home.

Halx, you are a truth seeker, maybe OCD makes us all that way;anyways, I could never leave our church because I feel we carry the authority of God. Most protestant freinds of mine, when it comes right down to it, believe that one must do something other than just acknowledge Christ.Im talking about deeds. When i asked a devout protestent if she believed in faith without works she said she did, but then proceeded to tell me that one must really be sincere, which gave me the impression that there were degrees of sincereness and only those that reached the highest levels would be granted "saved forever" protection. Jesus on earth was born of the blessed mothers flesh;Christ listens to her; she is great and is working in heaven. St. Therese said that "she would be working in heaven to save more souls in order that Jesus would have more loved ones in heaven". We have a wonderful church!!God bless you and others!

Mark - Thank you so much for your kind prayers!!! I am trusting my heart to Jesus and I know you are completely right, that He will take good care of it!

Samson - Thank you for asking if I was alright! I wasn't on so I didn't see that message until today. I'm alright now!!! Thank you my dear friend!!!

"A great and sincere desire to belong wholly and unreservedly to God , together with the possible price to be paid for it is called by St. Frances de Sales the strong pillar of the spiritual edifice. This pillar upholds the whole building. While by God's grace it stands erect in the apex of the soul, you need fear nothing." ~ 'Self-Abandonment to Divine Providence by Fr. Jean Pierre de Caussade

    "All The Good Things"

Think for a moment of all the good things you have going for you. Sure, there are troubles and disappointments, yet there are also blessings which are so much a part of your life that you take them for granted every day.

One reason why the problems get your attention is because they are relatively unusual. The good things, by contrast, just keep on flowing to you, often without you even taking much notice.

You are alive and living, with people who love and care about you, in a world filled with opportunities and positive possibilities in every direction. There is plenty to be done, plenty to learn, plenty to experience, and lots of room to grow.

What an incredible opportunity you have right in front of you. It is the opportunity to live, and indeed it would be difficult to imagine anything more valuable.

Keep yourself attuned to the good, the valuable, the positive things, and they are what will grow in your life.

Hello halx! Welcome! I have had times where I get just so run down from fighting thoughts and worrying. There have been many times preparing for confession is a draining experience. All the doubts and questions, was that really a sin, etc. I had thoughts cross my mind that it is just not worth it. Those I know are right from the Devil. He is the only one that would not want me in confession.
