Bede Griffiths was born in 1906 in England and died in 1993 in India. He made lecture tours through the West and sparked waves of enthusiasm out there. He wrote many books. He was a great inspiration to many Christians today. At him they found the love and the authenticity that they had been looking for. His final words were: "I am so happy. I'm so full of love. This is my commandment, that ye love one another. In this is included the whole gospel."

Bede Griffiths wanted the adaptation of Christianity to the present day. He taught that the disclosures of all religions complete one another. All the holy books of all religions together give the whole thing. A spiritual person can and should learn from the books of all religions.

Bede Griffiths was, how many great saints, very uncomfortable for his church. He explained that the Catholic Church must change. She should find new ways to express the Christian message. She should make love, not the sin to the center of her faith.

Bede Griffiths advocated the abolition of compulsory celibacy for priests, the priesthood of women and to establish inter-religious communities. His ashram in India was visited by people from all religions. He sent his Christian students to other spiritual traditions, so that everyone could find just the personal right way for him to enlightenment.

Are you interested in Catholic catechesis and apologetics? Can you give a short, reasoned answer to a question about the faith and can you back it up with references to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Sacred Scripture, or documents put out by the Magisterium? Are you a prayerful Christian who wants to pass the faith along to the next generation?

If you are, I could definitely use your help. I am the Supervisor on WikiAnswers for the Catholicism section, my name is James Hough, and my handle over there is PiusX. We get dozens of questions a day, I have had this job for several years, and am currently between 20,000 and 40,000 questions behind. At the moment, I have one other Catholic person helping me, he is handling the subcategories like Popes, Saints, Mother Teresa, Mother Mary, etc.

WikiAnswers is a world-wide answer site, it is not Catholic; Religion and Spirituality, which includes Christianity, of which we are a subcategory (on WikiAnswers) is a difficult area to work in. The Catholic Section is NOT a specific subsection so much as an easy way for the computer to organize questions in hope of an answer. A specific Catholic answer should be labeled as such, and may be one of many other answers, depending on the question.

We who work in WikiAnswers are working out in the world, among Protestants, pagans, atheists, you name it. WikiAnswers has categories on different sciences, sexual practices, witchcraft, geology, etc. Our particular little corner was overrun by hard-core Protestant evangelists before I took over as Supervisor. We also have a contingent of Anglicans who believe that the Catholic Church has only survived in England, and that Rome went into apostasy at Trent, right alongside the readers of Chick Publications.

If you would be interested in helping out with this work, please email me at piusxi@embarqmail.com. You should have, at the very least, a Catechism, a copy of the Scriptures with a Imprimatur, and I would recommend a good Catholic dictionary such as Modern Catholic Dictionary by John A. Hardon, S.J. You also need a regular prayer life, a sense of humor, a love of children, and a love for our separated brethren. This is an all-volunteer site. This new generation of children think that they can sit down at a computer and type a question into their browser bar and the computer is going to give them the answer. Eight times out of ten Google and other search engines are going to present them with answers from WikiAnswers - there is a crying need for people to help! Please pray about this and email me if you have some time available, even an hour or so a week.
    Oremus pro invicem,
    James

I looked up the proof of praying to saints and angels on the Catholic site, but there really is none until he 4th century. Is there any other proof?

    http://www.catholic.com/tracts/the-i...-of-the-saints

All the proof that is given really doesn't give any proof. They're just quotes, but after I examined them I didn't really find and concrete proof. One is a vision and others just tell people to pray for them after they die. But nothing about actually praying to angels or saints. Not until the 4th century.

Do you have any better quotes from before the 4th century??

I know Protestants who will accept this proof because it is after Constantine and after Nicea...

    Thank you very much

A prayer to Saint Paul the Apostle
Great convert and Apostle of the Gentile, you became Christ-like and knew only Christ Crucified. You relied completely on the Wisdom received from the Spirit, and taught from the abundance of your heart.

Instruct modern evangelists - those who preach Christ to others. May they realize that their actions speak louder than any words they may use. Teach them to use their talents in conveying their God-given message, and to rely above all on the promptings of the Spirit.
    Amen

    Our Priest said

it rains a lot on all of us
it rains hard on the just and unjust
it rains harder on the just cause they hold the unberellas for the unjust.

Two weeks later this same priest passed away he used to come to our church and fill in sometimes and on this day i heard him say those words, it really made me think..

    Words from Saint Paul.

Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

    Philippians 2:1-11

Just heard an incredible quote from an incredible saint:
"The noblest power of man is reason. The highest goal of reason is the knowledge of God." St. Albert the Great

    Words from Saint Paul

Do all things without grumbling or questioning, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation amoung whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life.
    Phillippians 2:14-16
