This is a group for women who choose to cover their heads for Mass, Adoration, Benediction, Confession, Prayer, or even on a daily basis. A place to come together to talk about this very personal devotion, share stories, support each other, and talk about resources for headcoverings.
This is NOT a place for debate or for questioning anyone's motives. Those conversations can take place on the main forums as appropriate, but not in this group.

Okay, thank you so much, and God bless!

Hi KimAnn,
I remember the first time I showed up to a Novo Ordo Mass veiled, another woman, who has known me for decades, laughed and said "oh, what, are we supposed to be Muslim now?"
I just offered it up, and kept veiling. Thanked God I had something else to offer up to Him.
When people ask why I veil, I say "it helps me remember I'm worshipping God, along with the Blessed Mother, the angels and saints." Some people have come up to me after Mass and thanked me for reminding them to be reverent. I hadn't spoken to any of these people, they just saw me covering my head, and had that reaction. So, it calls people back to the Lord, and to worship, and I don't have to say a word.
God bless,
Barbara

It's really a shame that people have to fight over things like that -- there is only one way of doing such things, so why people find a need to fight is beyond me. Very sad. Hopefully you have now found a parish that does not have so much drama.

It looks like you could drape this over your shoulders if you're wearing something sleeveless, and put it over your head in church. I'm just posting it here because I thought it looked very striking.

Wow, that's gorgeous, alas I can only crochet. And nothing that technical either! Ravelry.com is a great place to find patterns.

No concrete evidence. Just a feeling that it should be done in my case. In the end it's for the love of God, feeling that for some reason He wants this from me and giving it because I love Him. That's the reasoning and basis in my situation.
Godspeed.

So glad you have a good experience! Hopefully your husband will become more supportive once he gets used to it.

St. Catherine of Siena in S. Phoenix has many women who veil, but I encourage you to veil no matter where you go. I felt called to veil and began a few years ago. I attend Ss. Simon and Jude Cathedral and there are some women who veil too at the Mass we attend.

A skinny headband is a hair adornment, something that someone uses to fix or hold their hair in a given manner. It is not intended to cover one's head. The head is not covered, a strip across the top is somewhat covered. I personally feel these are a cop out as an excuse for a head covering.
I know the wide type you are talking about, and I think that falls more in line with "covering the head".
As far as being a distraction - a thing is only a distraction in so much as it is new. Once people see you covering your head on a regular basis, they will get over it and not even notice anymore.
Don't let THEIR distraction be a distraction to YOU in your own devotion. Just do what you want, and at some point they will get over it.
