I am nor familiar with this novena but I know that many graces are bestowed throught the intercession of Our Lady of Pompei.
Praying the Rosary to ask for a good wife/husband is by no means banal, it is the right and wise thing to do.
Of course one needs to have a spirit of abandonment in order to accept God's will, whatever it might be.

Know that you should pray (mental prayer) as your station allows, if you are not doin g your duty, then you should question how you are praying, perhaps simple ejaculation (my God, I love thee) or a decade here or there. And a simple lifting of the heart and spirit are always good to offer. May God bless you and keep you. I do also agree with the suggestion to check with a priest, or apologetics Q&A, just to clarify. I don't think any company can hold it against you if you are doing your job as well as you can.
