Have you seen any of "Sanctuary." I think that is a cool show.

Babylon 5 is going into the category of a "new classic." I personally think it raised the bar for SciFi.

Bumbers about Firefly. That show could have gone into some really interesting studies on morality, etc.

    Hi,
I thought it was cool to see some of the original cast. I thought the season cliffhanger wasn't that good. That underground military installation had a bit of the "we don't know where to take the series" feel to me.

I just have a gut feeling that the superior priest is really a "V". Nothing has indicated that, just a gut feeling I have.
I've wondered the same thing. We'll see if they do something on that.

If this is correct, shouldn't the Enterprise be called the Federation Enterprise instead of the U.S.S.Enterprise?
I think that Rodenbury actually started off (in "The Cage" with Cpt. Pike) calling the Enterprise as you suggest. He then changed it to "U.S.S." so it would be more acceptable to the public. When asked what it stands for, he said "United Star Ship Enterprise."

    Hello,
The "rules of the road" for this group are the straight forward "traditional" ones. I may update this posting as the need presents itself. However, should that happen, I will make a special post identifying this change.

    Here are the guidlines:

    1. Please keep posts charitable. Science fiction and fantasy are meant to generate discussion. However, please keep discussions civil. Threads which are more of a debate are welcome, but please keep on topic and no "personal attacks (ie. attacks on another's character, etc.). I do believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt, but continued abuse of this sort will be reported to CAF moderators.

    2. On Fantasy Role-Playing Games (RPGs) Discussing RPGs is welcome in this forum. However, this is not the place to discuss the acceptability of RPGs (ie. "are they satanic") Discussions on plot ideas and game rules are fine as long as those threads do not actively attack Christianity in general or Catholicism specifically.

    3. Advertisements are not permitted Starting threads or making posts which do unsolicited advertising is not permitted. If someone has a question on where a product (ie. a book) may be found, then responding to this request is fine (unless CAF has a rule against this).

I will make a PM to any one who violates this rules If need be, the offending message will be deleted. Continued violations will be reported.

Thanks in advance and enjoy the forum.

    Hi to all of you!
I have a question that my son asked me, and I couldn't think of an answer. would be interesed in any answers you might have.
On Star Trek, the ship is called the U.S.S. Enterprise. It is my understanding that the Federation doesn't have countries, all of the countries on Earth became one. If this is correct, shouldn't the Enterprise be called the Federation Enterprise instead of the USS Enterprise? Would love your thoughts.

Hi group...I think the reason I joined CA is because of the show LOST. I heard about Purgatory but was unsure...now I know lost is ficitional but I have always had quesions on the condition or uncondition of the dead. Do you guys think that some of the ScFy shows are loosely based upon Christian themes?

Hi everyone. I've set up to forum for this group. It should be easier to have more complex discussions over there. I will be responding to some posts made here in the forums.

Hi there, just a quick note for now. This group looks interesting as I have been a fan of Sci-Fi since I was a teenager. I would have to say my favorite is Star Trek: The Next Generation though I do like some of the Sci- Fi channels other series when I get a chance to watch. Some of which I don't even know what they are but I stop and watch them anyway. Well, that's all I have time for at present. Thanks for having me in your group.

Every series does have its own "flavor." If there was any attempt (especially concerning TOS, it would have to be by someone who really understands Trek. Part of what made TOS so lasting as a cult classic was also its social commentary. In theory it would work, but doing a remake on a cult classic is a gamble (especially with a whole new cast).
