"Do everything calmly and peacefully. Do as much as you can as well as you can. Strive to see God in all things without exception, and consent to His will joyously.

Do everything for God, uniting yourself to him in word and deed. Walk very simply with the Cross of the Lord and be at peace with yourself."

    - St. Francis de Sales

@ Hecares i read it in my papers from RCIA Class the section The dignity and vocation of women..It was in a letter from St.Paul (1 Cor 11:3-16). It sounds like i upset you and if i did i'm sorry i'm just trying to learn.. I am like a sponge i really want to learn and understand these teaching. I worry that if i'm not wearing the scarf it is disrepectful to god and i do not want that.. It also says in their that women are not allowed to speak at church and if they have a question they are to ask their husband later at home and i think that was changed also.. (that's a good change because my husband know less then me on the matter of the catholic church)lol.

There are many things that have changed in the Church - just not the important things, Ricedlady. I believe the caathechim speaks of our understanding evolving in some nonessential areas. The most important things are those stated in the creeds - we pray the Apostle's Creed and the Nicene Creed in the rosary and at Mass; but there are others. They all state the same truths.

Things like whether to cover your head in Church can, and probably should, change. The meaning of head covering is different in different cultures and in different eras. I'm pretty sure there are people who think it is a necessary practice. In times past, women routinely covered their heads as a sign of respect in accordance with their status as women. In our society today it doesn't have the same meaning, and is, therefore, not an important gesture.

When I was young, we had to cover our heads to go into a Catholic church. It was kind of hard to haul hats around, so for awhile we wadded up scarves in our coat pockets and put the wrinkly things on our heads when we went into church. When it wasn't coat weather, we often pulled a tissue out of our purses and bobby-pinned it to our heads. I fail to see any respect or advantage in those practices. A bare head seems much more respectful.

If you want, I can research and tell you from Catholic sources which will give you more concrete arguments for the changes.

What source are you using that said this?

Hello, last night i was doing my RCIA homework and i have so many questions but i will start with a small one. I read that women should wear head covering to church but it was changed from the pope... is this true??? did i understand it correctly??? And if so how can that be changed??? One thing i use to love about the faith is its traditions so how can someone change what god has said? Do any of you wear head scarf??
This is my take if i'm going to church and live as god wanted me to.. then i neeed to follow the rules not just some but all of them and that is what is confusing me now. I think that if we keep taking away the traditions that what will we have left in our services??

I pray all is well with you all
