    Can anyone help me.

I am the Godparent to my best friend. He is having a birthday party for his son, my Godson on Sunday. Well his Dad is 76 and coming and bringing a women/date for the first time around the family. His wife died of cancer 2 years ago. Well my best friends sisters are all mad and now are saying they won't come. My best friend is caught in middle. I told him to call his Priest, but it is all happening right now and he doesn't know what to do so I thought maybe you all could help. Any suggestions on what he can say to his sisters. He is fine with it as well as his brother, but his three sisters are very unhappy about it.

    sb52853,

Look up Thomas Merton. He was a convert who became a Trappist Monk.

Wednesday moring I took my kids to the dentist for a check up. As I left the receptionist handed me a flyer. If the kids bring in a toy for the local childrens hospital the dentist will give the kids a ticket to se Polar Express at a local theater next month. The dentist will pay for "bottomless popcorn". I asked "is that some kind of special popcorn with all of the hard parts removed so that you don't crack your teeth?" No, it just meant you can eat as much as you want. Talk about feeling stupid!!!! Oh well. I have a tendency to overthink things.

To begin with, I'm Protestant and so is my son, who is 25. He kind of dropped a bomb today when he said he might want to become a monk. I told him he would have to become Catholic first, which he hasn't shown any interest in before, but stranger things have happened I guess. Now I'm thinking he may have a calling as he's always been very spiritual and not really interested in the world. Of course, I'll support him whatever he does. Does anyone here have a relative who is a monk?

Good to see so many people active in this group! So many new posters!

Robert, what that priest did was an invasion of privacy for the girls he phootographed and a betrayel of trust for everyone. Besides, that behavior is so childish I hope He is evaluated. I think he has a big problem mentally or emotionally. He did hurt somebody. Imagine those girls he took pictures of - They'll be afraid to wear skirts in the future and will be very self-conscious if they have to. I'm sure they feel violated; and a lot of people don't trust the church anymore when they encounter a priest like that.

Ricedlady is having surgery today. She was very concerned about it, so let's all pray for her today. Since she will probably be out of commision for a little while, Robertt, I'll try to clear up your confusion about her post. She posted about the healing service quite awhile ago. It wasn't a Mass if I recall correctly. She was disappointed because it wasn't well organized and we had all told her what a wonderful experience it had been for us, how we had felt the presence of the Holy Spirit so strongly during the service. The disorganization seems to have blocked that experience for her. I hope it gave her strength to heal quickly after her surgery anyway.

Laura, I think I should say welcome;but there have been so many new members lately (and I haven't been on as much as I am sometimes) that I'm not sure anymore. I am happy to see you posting here, nonetheless (do you like that big word?). We are in a rainy spell ushering in a cold front. We had about a week of beautirul sunny weather with temps in the 70s, so we can't really complain. I like to sit in the cabin and listen to the rain fall on the roof. However, today I have to get moving and get some things done in town. Petty as it seems, we need another load of gravel for the driveway/parking area here and I hate to walk out to the car in the mud. Isn't that pitiful?

Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us on this, the anniversary of your appearnce in Fatima.

In our diocese we recently had a priest arrested for taking pictures up the skirts of students at his parish. Pictures were found on his personal laptop and other computers he that he was able to access. Parents and staff at the school were vocal in complaints about his behavior around young girls.

Recently I was talking to friend of mine who stated "You know he didn't really do anything wrong. It was just some pictures. It's not like he really hurt anyone." This is the only time I have directly heard this, but my mom has told me that some of her friends have said the same thing.

Any ideas how to resond? I understand there are a lot of people who feel betrayed, hurt and angry. I don't see that it does the church any good to excuse this kind of behavior. I did not give the guy I was talking to much of a response because I didn't think it was worth arguing with him. My wife says I should have spoken up more. Any suggestions?

    Ricedlady,

I am little confused on your last post. You have a healing Mass that is not lead by a priest? Only an ordained priest can say a Mass. There may be a prayer service where previously consecrated hosts are distributed, but without a priest it is not a Mass.
