"Over the years, I have stated that I no one can go to hell if they are loved by someone within the Body of Christ, providing they do not actively reject that love. I have received a lot of reaction, emotional and reflective, positive and negative.

    Ron Rolheiser, OMI

    CHRIST STILL HAS HUMAN FLESH
Only Christ saves, admittedly. But where is the reality of Christ? Was the incarnation only a 33-year experiment, a one-shot incursion by God into human history? The marvel of the mystery is that God took on human flesh and has never since ceased to have human flesh. In St. Paul’s words, “We are the body of Christ.” We don’t replace Christ’s historical body, we are not like his body, nor are we even his mystical body, we are his body; flesh, blood, tangible, in history, and to the extent that we live in grace, the on-going incarnation, God in flesh in history.
God knows we need him in more than the abstract. That is why he chose to become incarnate in it. But he didn’t shed his earthly skin after 33 years; once enfleshed, he has remained in skin. We are his body now. When we forgive, Christ is forgiving; when we bind, Christ is binding; when we console, Christ is consoling. When we suffer anguish over a loved one, the lamb of God is bleeding.
When people accept our love, they are accepting Christ’s love. When their hearts are warmed and moved because we love them, they are being moved, and repentance is taking place, through Christ and the Holy Spirit. That is the mystery of the incarnation! It is true! Nobody can go to hell if they are loved by someone within the Body of Christ, providing they do not actively reject that love. Does this all sound incredible? I hope so because then maybe we will begin to see the tip of the iceberg: the huge mysterious, powerful, earthly and incredible mystery of the incarnation.
One lady wrote to me saying: “I would love to believe you, but it just seems too good to be true!” What a marvelous description of the incarnation!"

Contraversial - so maybe good for discussion. As I read this though one thing did hit me . Over the last few years some poeple have reacted very aggressively in a really strange way against me and attacked my catholic faith . It perplexes me . If what Ron is saying, is it true that people really are wrestling with Christ when you reach out with a hand of love and you are a christian ?
mmm ..... I am going to think about that today.

Keytofreedom - hi yes it is interesting that some people are saying that these are the last days with all the earthquakes etc but I dont know anything about the gift of prophesy in those days.

Mary Virginia . I will be interested to read Harts book - great that you can read it online Will let you know how I go
prayers and love to everyone in this group

Isn't there some scripture regarding our eyes being open and us being given the gift of prophesy in the last days? Could someone please help me with this scripture or anything related to it from a Catholic point of view? I was baptized in the Church and received my First Communion. I have been back off and on. This time it is for good. I am back and NOTHING can keep me away!

Catholic psychology: or, The philosophy of the human mind, simplified and systematised from the most approved authors, according to nature, reason, and experience, and consistently with revelation
    Alban J. X. Hart

    Found this on Google books

    http://books.google.com/books?id=LpoXAAAAYAAJ

You can read it online or download it as a PDF.

Psychology, Empirical and Rational: Empirical and Rational
    By Michael Maher, S.J.
    Published by Longmans, Green, 1915

This is a pretty good Catholic treatment of the topic from a philosophical point of view and refers to the Soul, St. Thomas and the scholastic concepts of it, etc.

Hi Robmidwest,20 years ago a lady in my parish in England suggested that I read a book called Coming to God by Jim Borst . I was someone who ran around, never stopping and always a little anxious. I have carried this book with me ever since . I don’t know if it is still in print but it describes meditation from a very catholic perspective . on the back Mother Teresa is quoted as saying "thank you for giving us Jesus , the bread of life and his Good news through your words"
In the last 3 years Father Justin Belitz (a fransican monk) came to our parish . He is very contemporary and often uses scientific terms as well as theological ones - I think he is trying to bring God to as many people as possible. He words and ideas are very similar to the ones from the book I mentioned previously but are more explicit and he is very keen on affirmations .He asserts that to be content in life we need to be doing God's will, in faith. He focuses on how to use meditation to select appropriate goals ie what is gods will. His book is called Successfull living and I am sure this is still in print .
Sorry if everyone already knows about these books etc. As I said in an earlier post doing this style of prayer has a profound effect on me last year.
I do find it difficult to maintain . I start taking the positive effects for granted and stop wanting to put the effort in,
It is very interesting hearing about your work outside the clinic . I will be really interested to hear how this journey progresses. I think you may have to be very strong it may all be quite heart wrenching.
Flower lady and rice lady still praying for your health.
He cares -your advice to marry about teenagers also really helped me . I have 2 sons one is 16. He gets very argumentative but I have been trying since I read your post to see this as a sign of confusion and to keep showing me love for him. So thank you.
Praying for us all in this special catholic community as we struggle on with life's difficulties

Regarding the 40days for life. I did call the coordinator and asked her if she could pair me up with someone with a little more experience. She stated she could meet her today after she got off of work. I was surprised by such a rapid response and said yes. I ended up not getting enough sleep during the day so I called her and cancelled. I will try to hook up with someone next week on my days off. It was weird being there at night by myself. Again I never left the street, but I still worried about somehow doing something someone would percieve as a threat. I need someone to show me the ropes before I go out there again.

Does anyone have any good resources on positve affirmations and meditation? I get mixed signals from people about both. We see here in this group the disagreement over Harry Potter. I listen to both Catholic and evangelical radio stations. The other day I heard a nonCatholic pastor discussing how the book the Power of Positve thinking was anti-christian. I have never read the book, but this seems like a real stretch. Are there any good Catholic books about psychology out there?

Hi, and welcome all newcomers. Hi Kelly, glad to see you join the group. I am thrilled to hear everybody praying and marching for the unborn children. What a joy. I do the rosary on EWTN for the aborted children. We cannot pray enough. Robert, I did not know that you could sign up for forty days of life over the net. Thank you for posting that. I will check it out. I'd like to join.
Have a blessed and peaceful evening all! Brenda

I am interested in this. They have a march"Jericho March" in Jacksonville ,Florida which I want to take part in at a local Catholic church.I had 2 children out of wedlock and I struggled without the fathers being in our lives. For every 1 hard time I had alone while raising them , my children brought me back 7 fold of joyful times. My children are 3,7 and 12.I love my Rosary and adore our"Holy Mother.I am currently in the RCIA program at my Catholic church.By Easter I will have all my sacraments.God bless eveyone

Last night I prayed in front of a Planned Parenthood for the first time. I signed up for 40 days for life over the net. No one was there. I stayed for the whole hour that I committed . I think I will talk to the coordinator some more to have someone show me the ropes. I stay on the street clearly off of their proprerty, but I was still nervous about where I parked and how my presence was going to be seen. I prayed the Rosary as I walked up and down the street. It was all new to me.
