Good morning all! bridget, I will pray for your mother, but please don't think that there is no hope. Keep your faith. Many survive cancer today. I am a survivor of breast cancer. I had a right mastectomy about 10 years ago and through the grace of God I am fine now. God is merciful. Prayer is powerful. For the sake of his sorrowful passion have mercy on us and on the whole world. Jesus we trust in you.
Have a blessed day all, Brenda

Greetings to all my friends here. I, too missed yesterdays posts. For some reason, they were not available to me when I was here yesterday. I have heard that there are often delays in receiving posts on this site. Now i have seen it with my own eyes.

Have a blessed day with Our Lord.

Trin-Rather than get into a debate, because I want to move on to other topics, I defer the view of HP to Pope Benedict 16 and his comments about it.
HP has "'subtle seductions' that can distort children's thinking before they mature in the Christian faith."

Please read his actual scanned letter online.
Peace be with you, my friend.

KROMOLOW - have you read /seen Harry Potter ? Sometimes it is important to hear it for yourself rather than take someone elses perception.
Praying for everyone today on this site

Happy Tuesday! I had a very good christian friend who loved Joyce Meyer's talks and books. I'm sure they did a lot for my friend. I have only snippets of her thoughts. I haven't seen anything objectionable. I just prefer to read Catholic writers when possible. If I run out of good Catholic books I may turn to hers. Joel Osteen, I seem to remeber being cautioned about by a spiritual director once. It's been awhile and I may remember incorrectly. I do know that many non-Catholic teachings have very subtle differences that you might not pick up on at first, but that might color your thinking. An example: I heard a radio program once where someone was talking abou babies being born evil and it being our jobe to mold them into good God-fearing people. (I guess this isn't an example of subtlety). This idea really troubled me, so I talked about it with my priest. He said that some other religions do believe that we are born evil, but the Catholic Church doesn't agree. Now before you scream "What about original sin " The Church teaches that original sin gives us an inclination to sin, a less certain knowledge of what's right and what's wrong. How can a newborn baby created by God be evil to start with?

Regarding Harry Potter and those on this site who have explained that there is nothing 'evil' about HP, you are DEAD WRONG.

In Potter, there is no right or wrong, sin or sinfullness, there is only 'win' or 'lose' through spells, incantations, magic, using dragons (the creature in the bible describing Satan) as a means of transportation et. etc.

A comment was made that the Church does not condemn HP. DEAD WRONG again.
In a letter, then Cardinal Ratzinger (now Pope Benedict 16) condemned HP. (The letter is on the internet, use 'Harry Potter condemned' as a keyword on google to find it).

HP displays many, many occurences in which the occult is shown to be 'normal', and for children, who are very easily influenced by what they see, hear, and watch, HP opens up a doorway to the occult and occult activities as 'normal' to them. They, in turn, now are able to dabble in the occult because "I saw it in an HP movie" so it must be OK (The fault of parents who just let them watch or read HP without explaining to them that many aspects of HP completely violate the precepts and teachings of the Catholic Church.

My Children are forbidden to watch or read HP, and I explained why to them. They are well versed and taught about catholicism and Catholic 'absolutes', They understood and there were no complaints.

For those who think HP is OK and not evil, you are opening a door for yourself and your family into the realm of Satan. Don't be fooled.
Remember the saying "If it's popular with the world, it won't be popular with God".

Remember, we are all on a "pilgrimage to heaven", as JP II stated, and we don't need the HP, piled up with occult themes to get there.

    Hello everyone!

I read all your comments and i too feel Joyce and Joel stirred something in me to get back to my faith and i agree with some of the things they say but for the most part i see them as they are in this for more they helping others find god sometimes i feel they are just init for money..

As for facebook i feel the same i started using goole plus because i got tired of the issues. I would go on the bible page or jesus page and it annoys me that people spend so much time on their say crude stuff and saying their is no god and all the hate stuff.. I would write them if they don't believe WHY are you on this page? Then i would tell them don't worry god still loves you!

@ MV, i love the letter AND i will share it with my husband. He stresses so much over things we have no controll over and i tell him put it in gods hands. Since the falling of our ecomony his pay check didnt go up but food did, elect did... and so things are very tight but i tell him this is where god wants us right now just be still and listen to what god has to say and we will be fine.

My blood pressuer has always been good 120/80 to 125/80 only when i'm ill does it go up a bit but since i started praying daily and saying the rosary it has even went lower108/80. Now if i can get ahold of my sugar level One thing at a time right?

Well i'm going to go iron and help with school work i wish you all a safe and blessed day

"Strive to live content in the midst of those things that cause your discontent. Free your mind from all that troubles you, God will take care of things. You will be unable to make haste in this [choice] without, so to speak, grieving the heart of God, because he sees that you do not honor him sufficiently with holy trust. Trust in him, I beg you, and you will have the fulfillment of what your heart desires" (St. Vincent de Paul, Letters).
