Just for additional help, on this page go to Catholic .com,, and type in the search box "prayer to the saints", and click 'Search', and you will have so many resources to choose from.
OR, on the same page at Catholic.com, click on "Topic", then click on "Saints"

    Ash Wednesday.
I attended the mass this evening, the priest said in part of his homily:
""".. I just went to a nursing home this afternoon to give ash to the faithful residing there. after quite a long while,,, when we are almost finished and about to leave, an old lady was shouting not far from us, "where is my ash, where is my ash". I approached the lady, and casually informed her some necessities before marking her forehead, and told her we are going to make a short prayer. She shout louder " NO, I want my ash, I only want my ash....""
The priest ended,,, but connected this incident to the attitude of some parishioners,
that marking of ash on the forehead to some has become a fashion, or an outward sign not knowing the significance or reason behind.

Hi MartiniLuther, In my life I've found only God can give me what I need, maybe tonight start by saying a rosary and ask Mother Mary to pray with you and help lead you to the cross, there is where your answers lie.
May God bless and protect you, I'll say a prayer for you.

    Hey everybody,
I just joined this site because I am looking for support from good Catholic people for many reasons. I have been worried about my behavior lately, especially after moving to the great city of Chicago. I am surrounded by temptation, and although I have attended church at the Cathedral every Sunday since moving here a few months ago, I admit it's to confess in the eyes of our Lord Jesus. I can't even believe the things I've done here and I just need some help to find the courage to stop myself from what feels like a downward spiral. Anyway, if you are the kind of person who might be able to give me what I need--- or if you are in Chicago--- please do send me a message.

thaliasugiarto, it's so hard to answer these kind of questions in a forum, because the answers are so long, the questions are important though, I always suggest talking to a priest or if it's really important, buy a good book and there are many out there. When I'm confronted by these questions I use the old, do you ever ask your mother to pray for you? why not the mother of God ? I will also refer to the bible, Rev. 5: 8 - Rev. 8:4. I have found though most times no matter what I say people just want to talk and prove you wrong not to listen and learn. So you pray for them that God will illuminate their minds, hearts and souls and lead them to the truth.By the way the new catechism will definitely help you with your answers and it's inexpensive and easy to get.
    God bless you

Hello all new members, welcome to the group.

    Hi thaliasugiarto..
When we dont know the answers it is best to do exactly that and not to reply, not because of offending but because we dont know.. its okay not to know all the answers and then go on to do what you have done here, and ask.
To give a reply and to keep the reply simple.. , The saints and Mother Mary , who will be known always as BLE..SS..ED do not proclaim to be God and are not professed by catholics to be God..They are "intercessors for us", when we pray and ask for their assistance Mary in turn will ask her son...Mary is our mother, The mother of the church which was built on The word of God,Jesus's life, crucifiction and resurrection..
"This is Peter and on this rock i will build my church"
"When Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing near, he said to his mother, 'Woman, behold, your son!'. Then he said to the disciple, 'Behold, your mother!’" (Jn 19:26-27).
    Our Mother.

Jesus will always answer his mother and apply whatever she asks of him, eg.. the wine at the wedding feast, even then he done as she asked and it was not his time to do so. This is a simplified reason as to why we pray to Mary and the saints.
Hope this has lifted that burden, if you continue to do your own research on this it will help you further. God bless
other members here may want to add to this.

    Hello everyone.
I am here to share what has burdened me this past few days.
I have this Christian friend and there was this time when we were discussing about the church.
When we were talking, he suddenly brought up this topic which I think is kind of offensive.
He said "I dont understand why the Catholics would actually pray to Mother Mary and the Saints. They are human, not God."

I wanted to give a reply but I decided not to. I was afraid that I might offend him and make things worse. So I just told him that I need to go for something urgent.
And to be honest, I didn't (or don't) know what the reasons are, either.

So, can someone help me with this? Any advices are appreciated. Thank you

To my earlier question, What is
Tradition, I am referring to MUSIC.
I know the Gregorian Chant is the
    officially recognized form of Sacred
Music and a recent Popular Hymn
    Book "Glory and Praise"(1997) lack
    the Lyrical and Theological Basics.
That doesn't mean that we should
be satisfied with the same old staple!
Take for example Chris Padgett, who
converted with his whole family in
    1999, He is a Singer/songwriter, one
of his songs won the Unity Award for
ROCK song of the Year(He's a music
minister for his Parish). The Holy Spirit
is still courting His Church with MUSIC!

    Hello mountainman..
It would appear this book does not contain the Imprimatur (“Let it be printed”) or the Nihil Obstat (“Nothing [herein] stands in the way[of the faith]”)because the book does contain, unapproved by the Catholic church, private revelations.. It does not mean the prayers within this book are not approved...
    Hope this has helped

I have a question. My husband and I say a lot of prayers out of "The Pieta Prayer Book" put out by the Miraculous Lady of Roses, LLC. This prayer book does not have the Imprimatur or the Nihil Obstat on the front cover, however, a lot of the prayers are in another prayer book that I use that have the Imprimatur and the Nihil Obstat. My question is this; Is this prayer book legal or right for the Catholic faith? Does anyone else read this prayer book? Need your help about this. Thank you.
