Hi. I am not a member of Opus Dei, but I have a lot of questions about there activity. There is a lot of controversial informaiton out there about them and it is hard to distinguish what is true and what is not. For instance, was Escriva for Hitler? Do Opus Die members use aggresive means for signing other up? How often do they use mortification? It is wierd because in one way, I feel like I can't trust Opus Dei members to tell the truth, but who else will say it? I guess I am just SO confused about the movement. Can anyone help?

Just rediscovered this Group as I was searching around on the CAF. Not much posting happening....we have St. Jose Maria Escriva in our corner. I still get a newletter regularly from Opus Dei and visit their website and links to view SJM's videos which are so beautiful. He is so Christ-like in his works and words, I feel closer to Jesus when I listen to St. Jose Maria. I have been finding lots of little ways to sanctify my daily work; its amazing how much we can accomplish with God's help and using our free will to cooperate fully in being the heart, hands and voice of Jesus to those we come into contact with.

Yes, I hope they start re-runs of "Web of Faith" or start a new season. I love the conversion story of Scott Hahn, and when i meet someone ready to consider conversion I mention him and his talks and books.

Isaiah, you always make me seethe with envy Opus Dei was actually instrumental in the conversion of Scott, another EWTN idol of mine. He finally became open about his membership around the time of the Dan Brown controversy (Da Vinci's Code). As for Raymond, well, you already know...

I miss seeing Father John on Web of Faith

I am a big fan of Scott Hahn. I met him back in 1998. He has inspired me to study the Bible and now I am hooked (in a good way) to the inspired words of God. I also met Fr. trigilio in 2006, and listened to my confession. I also met Raymond Arroyo, and they are all as nice as they can be, just like on tv. I'm glad they are associated with Opus Dei.

BTW I suppose a lot of you know that the great Dr. Scott Hahn is a supernumerary and that Fr. Trigilio is a supernumerary priest of The Work. Of course there's Fr. C. John McClusky, a numerary priest. And rumor has it that Raymond Arroyo is a cooperator (don't know if he already became a supernumerary. It's been more than 5 years since I found out that Raymond's a cooperator).

Our Father's feast day is approaching

Hi Sherry G. ! I am not an official member, but admire Opus Dei alot, and they have not kicked me out, hehe. I just noticed how under attack they were, especially by the hollywood demons...so Opus Dei must be on the right track! God Bless!
