ADD/ADHD Catholic Adults Support Group

Group created by 3DOCTORS

This is a support group for Catholic ADD -- oh, look, a bunny!

Seriously, this group is a place of support and exchange of ideas or Catholic adults with ADD/ADHD -- share how it affects your faith, your life, and how your faith helps you deal with it. Family and friends of persons with ADD/HD welcome as well!

Also, let's not forget to mention how it can be a blessing as well -- creativity, idea generating, humorous, whatever comes to mind!

Hi-been awhile since I've written. Hope everyone is doing well. Had another runaway hamster but our ferret flushed it is safe in its cage. Feeling a little overwhelmed now with my favorite priest leaving the base chapel and everything. He isn't leaving the area-a civilian priest who also is a chaplain at the MUSC here in Charleston. Has helped me and my kids out a lot. We are feeling torn about this. He was my only confessor and not sure how I am going to go about finding another priest I feel okay with as my spiritual director-wish I can keep this priest as my mentor. We are getting another priest on July 5th who is also civilian but civil service-not sure how this is going to pan out. My little one is especially taking this hard. I am also leaving on the 11th to do my annual tour in Japan-feeling so overwhelmed! Got turned down for the VA disability so I am appealing right now. I also am struggling with my ?adhd? although one specialist said I have mild aspergers. My 3rd grader is the same way-adhd with autistic traits, although out going with friends in her case Her prognosis is very promising. She will be staying with my friend for 2 weeks. My oldest, who is 17 and considered a legal adult will be staying here alone with neighbors and friend checking on him. At least someone will be here to check on the animals.

Well, the job is not easy, and its testing the limits of my ADD. But knowing I have ADD, I can work on it instead of just freezing up and not knowing what to do next and (internally) crying of despair. Its a challenge, but God prepared me for it.

Oh-my 17-yr-old is also going camping for a week with the teen leadership seminar-will return after I leave the country. He is very excited and have been among the 150 chosen from 260 applicants-I am so excited-kind of wish I can trade places-going to do water rafting and everything-if only I can pass as a teenager and he can pass as a military peep.......wishful thinking.......hey-it will do him a lot of good to get out of the house and do fun and educational activities-hope he comes back with a good story to share-will be checking my face book and skype messages in japan

Hi-just learned at my daughter's IEP meeting at school that she also has aspergers-they said a little of adhd and autistic tendencies. Boy-not again! She will definitely stay in regular academics but receive special services for asperger kids in addition to adhd-wow! That really stinks! She is sociable and play with other kids-and I must remember Bill Gates and Al Gore to name a few (hope I didn't break the forum rules mentioning names) as perfect examples of those with ASD who has done amazing things. Just was a bit taken aback being that I saw no autistic tendencies in my daughter-of course-being an aspie myself-maybe I just missed the signs somehow. Oh-she will be spending a couple wks with my friend and daycare provider-going out of country (japan) for my 2-wk annual tour with the reserves. Going to be very interesting since I've never been to asia before, just germany twice. Still in the reserves-and hopefully by 2014-I'll be set up financially to retire for good. Ready to move on although I love the air force! Been so good for me and a positive experience overall for me-wouldn't trade it for anything in the whole wide world-hope all is well with you folks-been very busy and trying to reach out to say hello-hope everyone is doing well-always love reading your posts-

Put him in the Trust of Jesus Christ. My oldest is 17 as well and believe me, I put her in the trust of Jesus because I just can't be there all the time. She will be a senior and graduating next year then going to college. I have to place her in His care because if I don't, I will go nuts. Also I know that she is responsible and hopefully what she has been taught, she will keep close to her heart. She already knows there is a Catholic Church on or near the campus. If she would be anything like me at that age, I would die of fright Thank you God for not letting her be like me at that age.

Honestly, you are in Japan and have several children still at home. How could you not be concerned. Take comfort in knowing you have left them with responsible people and of course, Jesus. Trust in the Lord!

Howdy, everyone-hadn't written in awhile-been busy working and everything. My little one just made her first holy communion 2 weeks ago, too. And still waiting on my VA disability claim which is still pending and getting everything together on the home front-I am leaving in July for 2 weeks out of country-going to japan. Uhhhh!!! My mind has been spinning endlessly-especially with my oldest child who is 17. Refuses to stay with grandparents and found out that here in SC, he is considered an adult-as a mom-just hate to be out of country and something happening to him-I mean-I'll have 3 people with full power-of-attorney and my house have an alarm-and at least there will be someone looking out for the animals yet I am not ready to leave him alone-especially for 2 or so weeks-I am just being a mom, I guess. My 8-yr-old is easy! Staying with my friend who also is a DSS-certified daycare provider-she loves her like her own child. My oldest-well-I guess I'll take the sheriff's advice and also set up a welfare check (he won't like that :-( -he feels like I treat him like a baby when I just don't want anything to go wrong. It's not like I can drive from japan to south carolina, you know in an emergency. Plus his father, my ex-husband is flipping out about leaving him alone for 2 weeks. Of course, in Mississippi, I think it is age 21 you are considered an adult unlike 17 in SC. In my homestate of Ohio, it is age 18----I mean , my teenager is very level-headed and trustworthy, and not the type to do anything immoral yet I just can't help but think something will happen or something while I'm gone (laid up unconscience or something). My mind is racing so much-what to do...what to do.....? Thoughts, anyone? Sorry this is so long of a post.....
