Catholics Come Home

Group created by GKCT

A group for Catholics who have left the faith for whatever reason and have decided to come back again. I find there is not much help "out there" for us. Share your thoughts, ups and downs, why you returned and anything else that comes to mind that could help others.

    Hi Don
think NFP was short for Natural Family Planning. Franna do correct me if I misunderstood you . Just read a lovely thought written by Ron Rolheiser reminding us that we are loved by God even when we dont achieve wordly success. Hard to remember in this secular world. Praying for everyone here

    Good afternoon, all,

    Hi, Franna,
I converted to Roman Catholic in 1968, had a faith crisis, wandered and returned in '83. I second trin40's advice, because I wish I hadn't wandered.

    Hi, trin40,
I want to ask either one of you, what's NFP? I'm not really good with internet nor texting acronyms.

God loves all of you, lurkers, too,
    Don

    Hi Franna,
sorry to join this group when I havent left the faith but I saw your question . I say stay. I think everyones faith changes and evolves over time. Stick with the church whilst you work things out . Fr Justin Belitz is a great advocate of following your conscience within the catholic church. I also think surveys say something like 85 % of catholics dont agree with NFP.

I haven't been on here for ages. I keep forgetting to check my groups tab.

Happy New Year to everyone in our special group. I hope it is a blessed year full of hopes and dreams for you all.

    Good morning, Frank,

That's so sad. I've had a good relationship with the Church. I converted in '68, at age 25.

The Church is different, now. Try to forgive her, let go of the past and make it to Mass.

    God loves you,
    Don

I guess I could best be described as a "stateless" Catholic. I have held on to my Catholic faith, but I am spiritually "on empty - running on fumes". I was never sexually abused, but was physically abused by a Nun, Verbally assaulted by Priests, and other Catholics for decades. Also my late father, my late uncle, and myself being abandoned by the Church have left scars that can never be erased.

I would elaborate, but even here I fear criticism, judgement, mokery, etc...

I pray I don't get any of that here!

    Good, morning, Simone,

Thank you, for validating my answer on the Rosary. I have prayed the Rosary with separate intentions for each decade without ill-effects, so ...

Oh, dear, the sweet Baptist ladies are trying to save you. How ironical.
You see, I converted from Southern Baptist to Roman Catholic in '68. smile.
So, I should be able to come up with a deep and very wise counsel to give you.
    But.
All I can think of is to tell you to keep praying as the Holy Spirit leads you. When you can't hear Him, then pray as the truth and love in your heart inspires you to pray.

Sorry I don't know anymore than that.
Well, of course, you could always pray for their conversion to our Church, smile.

    God loves you,
    Don
