St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, Australian

Visit the forum of this group.
Group created by Trishie

Saint Mary MacKillop, our first Australian canonised Saint, emphasises two inspiring principles:
"Never see a need without doing something about it. "
And trust in God whatever occurs, for
"God will take care of us all."

Karenanna, have you thought of putting that poem to music. I believe it would make a beautiful hymn

Rob it's a joy to find you here.
I'll offer my Mass on November 6 especially for your Mom...and for each of you. I ask the Lord to keep your Mom, Dad, you, and the family in all my Communions.

And you are right. God introduces us to those whom He wishes to give the mutual sharing of graces and prayer.
I know something also of a son's love for his mother. Each of my sons has such a devoted love that if they thought I was as ill as your Mom has been and were been fighting so serious an illness, they would be awfully distressed. I ask God to give healing to your mother, and I ask Saint Mary to intercede powerfully for every good grace and blessing for you and your family.

Saint Mary please intercede lovingly and powerfully for the needs and wefare of each of those who have joined us in this group.

Hi Trishie, I'm so glad you started this group. Bless You and I'm Praying for You. I was hoping these would just show the Picture I made in Honor of Saint Mary of the Cross, these "computer issues" are common with me though! Please Check it Out! Love, Rob. PS: My Mum's Birthday on November 6th, Please continue to pray for her. God is doing much in our lives and it is no coincidence he placed us in each others paths at such difficult times.

My sister arrived home from the canonisation and the 'holy' tour that followed this. She found it full of awesome experiences. She cried with joy when sharing that on her return her Jehovah Witness daughter-in-law has suddenly decided to return to the Church and that after several years and losing their home, and scrabbled-for sporadic part-time work for years, her son-in-law has walked into a secure full-time job. She is full of gratitude to God for these long-awaited graces, because she prayed so fervently for her family in the papal Mass there in the Vatican crowd, and she believes these were miracles of God's blessing, obtained perhaps with the intercession of our holy cousin. We are blessed to be descended from Mary's McDonald side...she has no relatives apart from descendants of her cousins, as her siblings had no children.

We used to have a spoon used by Saint Mary, but after my Mum died and my Dad re-married, my stepmum didn't know the significance of the battered old spoon and threw it out!
To know that something of Mary's genetics is in the hands that tap this keyboard is humbly moving to me. I cried the first time I saw Mary's picture resting on gold cloth and with candles and flowers, because I thought, "But she's family!"

My family stayed with the MacKillops when they first came to Australia to take up land and begin our family's life here as pioneers, so shared the table with young Mary. I know that spiritual relationship is more important...but still, it's kind of touching. I feel inspired to try to emulate her faithfulness and faith, to deal with the worst adversities...and at this time in my family we do suffer the worst of adversities we could have imagined we might face...and I hope Mary will powerfully help there. She belongs to all Australians, to whoever requests her intercession and seeks to emulate her goodness, faith, courage, and charity...and 'amen' to their prayer, but please don't overlook us also in our painful and serious need, holy Mary.

    Vatican's back-up miracle.

I saw Jack when he was ill and was mentally and physically disabled. I have seen him as a strong young man.

Sharon shared Jack's thanks to those who had watched out for him and we who continued to pray the novena for Jack's healing.

"Thankyou for lighting a candle for me.
Thankyou for speaking for me when I was unable to.
Thankyou for making room for my wheelchair and helping to push it.
Thankyou for being strong when I thought I was going to die.
Thankyou for directing me to the right room when I couldn't remember where to go.
Thankyou for helping to open my lunch when my hands didn't work properly.
Thankyou for defending me when other kids didn't know what happened to me.
Thankyou at the bus stop and finding a seat.
Thank you for helping me when I fell over.
Thank you for caring and keeping an eye out for me.
Thankyou for remaining a friend when I could have been left behind.
Thankyou for being a witness to prayer and my life.
Never be afraid to say what is true, what you have seen and what you have heard.

Sharon wrote, "Dear Trish, thank you for your prayers and support of Jack over the years. You can see for yourself how well Jack is - please always keep in your prayers a thought of him."

Sharon is a passionate, cheerful, determined mother, and a lot of fun to be with. Her love for her afflicted boy was strong enough to have her recruit many to pray an ever continuing novena for a miracle at the intercession of Mary MacKillop. And Blessed Mary did intercede. And Jack is healed.

Though some of you may know of this particular miracle...not that, as we know, miracles are necessary to reveal the holiness of Saint Mary's life. Her life witnesses for itself.

    Professor Kernberg testifies:
"I have known Sharon and Jack and the family for many years, and was conscripted into Sharon's prayer circle. I have on my desk a copy of the report of Associate Professor Andrew J Kernberg, Director of Neurology of the Children's Neuroscience Centre.

    In testimony, the professor wrote:
"Jack is a young man I follow in neurology at the Royal Children's hospital. I have known him for a number of years since I took over his care. At that time Jack had a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, a disorder which is very uncommon in childhood. He was wheelchair bound, there was evidence of intellectual decline and he had significant weakness down one side of his body. The illness itself would have been a huge hurdle to overcome but not too long after the diagnosis, Jack was found to have Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Two disorders sch as these, occurring in one person is exceedingly rare...There have been no reports of a similar combination of illnesses in a child.

Thus Jack and his family had 2 life threatening disorders occurring together. Jack was treated aggressively for his Hodgkin's lymphoma and at the same time was maintained on therapy which we know would typically keep things at bay rather than improve things in multiple sclerosis. ...

What happened is not easily explained by medicine but Jack has made a full recover from his lymphoma and is now walking, running, attending school and has shown improvement in his intellectual capacities which has been clearly documented. His case is so rare with such dramatic improvement in hie neurological function that we are in the process of reporting this to the wider medical community in a publication...

As a physician, Jack's recovery has been miraculous...
