Group created by william3

On July 11, 1995 the title of Venerable was bestowed on Fr. Solanus Casey by Pope John Paul II. This is a group where we can learn more about Fr. Solanus Casey with stories, and perhaps 1st hand knowledge of Fr. Solanus; we can offer prayers for Fr. Solanus's intercessions, and, perhaps, further his cause for canonization.

Ongoing Novena to Venerable Solanus Casey:

Venerable Solanus Casey you lead a holy life, and your love for the sick and the poor is well known by all who love you. Please pray for us, and interceed, we implore you, on the behalf of those for whom we now pray.

Let us feel the power of your prayers in our every need. Give us consolation in all the bitterness of this life, and especially at the hour of our death. Pray that we may be worthy to share eternal happiness with you, and with our Lord Jesus Christ, in heaven. - Amen.

Father in heaven, through Venerable Solanus Casey, You reminded the world of the merciful love that fills Your Heart and the childlike trust we should have in You. Humbly we thank You for having given Fr. Solanus the wondrous power to bring to You, day by day, innumerable souls who will praise you eternally.

O Lord; You said, "Unless you...become like little children you shall not enter the Kingdom of heaven: (Mt. 18:3); grant us, we beg of You, to walk in the footsteps of Your holy Venerable Solanus Casey, with humilty and purity of intention so that we may obtain eternal rewards. You live and reign forever. - Amen

    ABOUT FR. SOLANUS

The relentless pace took its toll. Sometimes Solanus was so exhausted that he went into a corner of his office and collapsed on the floor for a catnap. A Friar remembered: "I would drop in the chapel at midnight or one o'clock in the morning and, sure enough, Father Solanus was there with his fiddle in from of the Blessed Sacrament. At other times when I thought I was alone in the chapel, a figure would rise up form behind the pew and Father Solanus would be there with a grin. He was just taking a little nap after a fatiguing day."

    ABOUT FR. SOLANUS

"Father Solanus made himself available every waking moment of the day. Following lunch in the friary, he frequently shot billiards with fellow Friars. 'Often as not,' a Friar recalled, 'he would pick up a cue and start to shoot, and his call bell would ring. Then he would put the cue stick right back into the rack, but never give any expression of impatience. When he received that call, we all knew he would never leave his office for the rest of the day until supper.'"

Greetings, "Blessed be God in all His designs!":

Update of my friend Al... I saw him at church Thursday, and he was up and around (still weak, but up) doing so much better.

Thanks to all who offered up prayers for Fr. Solanus' intercesssion.

If you, or anyone you know, have a pray intention post it here... Why not let Fr. Solanus work and pray for them too?

    Grace & Peace,
    William

Father Solanus' bit of wisdom for the day:
"To practice no religion is making a secondary matter of the primary purpose of our creation as rational beings: to know God so that we may serve Him and be happy with Him in heaven."

All Father Solanus' bit of wisdom for the day, are from the book:"Meet Solanus Casey."by Brother Leo Wollenweber, OFM,Cap

Greetings, Grace and Peace to you:

I am sure you are right Indyann, I think that one of the signs of a true saint is humbleness, and Fr. Solanus lived his whole life with humility.

"Blessed be God in all his designs!" Can you think of a more fitting motto to live by? - Thank you for sharing this with us, and thank you for the website.

If Solanus were alive today, and you or I asked him the same question, he would probably say that his great trust in God would not be affected by whether he received such an honor or not. During his life, one of Father Solanus’s favorite sayings, according to Brother Leo, was “Blessed be God in all his designs!” It was Solanus’s hope-filled prayer in good times and in bad. Brother Leo said that Solanus often began and ended his personal letters with it. It was Solanus’s “signature saying” according to Leo, and “a motto he lived.” The same words are carved into Solanus’s wood coffin, allowing this simple sermon of a simple priest to continue lifting the hearts of the hundreds who come to his tomb to pray week after week.

Hi William, you are not alone here.

I went on an internet search to see if I could find any recent news of Father Solanus Casey and so far the most recent I have found is this 2007 article about him. I read that he is in "competition" with Father McGivney and Bishop Sheen to become the first American male saint.

After reading about Father Casey, I rather think that he would not care if he received this honor or not. But it would be wonderful if all 3 could be canonized within the same year.

I do not know much of Father McGivney other than that he founded the K of C. On the other hand I really like Bishop Sheen. I actually remember when he was on TV.
