Our Eucharistic Journey

Group created by Amiciel

This group is for those who wish to become better acquainted with the Lord Jesus or who wish to gain / share practical insights on the Holy Eucharist.

Here, we can talk about Jesus and His values, carry on conversations about Him, follow th liturgical life by sharing thoughts from the Sunday and daily Masses. We can evangelize one another by sharing insights on the parts of the Mass, sharing thoughts from our adoration hours, from our readings, prayers, meditations, etc.

I know someone whose "Eucharistic Journey" was triggered unexpectedly by a statement from a priest/theologian/professor who said something to this effect:

Each Eucharist should be a true encounter with the Lord Jesus as our Friend. If our Eucharists are living encounters with Jesus as a Friend, then, what great joy will be ours as we enter eternity, and we realize that our Divine Judge is the same merciful Jesus we have encountered so many times in the Eucharist, as a dear Friend and Redeemer.

Each Eucharistic Celebration is therefore an excellent 'preparation time' for eternity. It is a necessary part of our Catholic life; it is not optional.

Our Journey is for beginners hoping to gain more insights on the Lord and His gift of the Eucharist. It is also for those already advanced in their spiritual journey, who, we hope, will share their precious insights with us. Together then, let us hope to deepen our relationship with the Lord and bring others along with us.

Come Holy Spirit, enlighten and guide our group in our search for Truth. Help us to remain on solid ground as we travel home towards eternity.

Mary, loving Mother of Jesus and our dear Mother, be with us as we go our way. Amen.

August 7 - Today is the First Sunday of August. It is also Parish Priests' Sunday or St. John Vianney Sunday. St. John Vianney is the patron of all priests, and in particular, of Parish Priests.

Let us pray for all our priests:

Keep them, I pray you, dearest Lord,
Keep them, for they are Yours,
Your priests whose lives burn out before
    Your consecrated shrine.

Keep them, for they are in the world,
    Though from the world apart;
When earthly pleasures tempt, allure, -
    Shelter them in Your heart.

Keep them, and comfort them in hours
    of loneliness and pain,
When all their life of sacrifice
For souls seems but in vain.

Keep them, and O remember, Lord,
They have no one but You,
Yet they have only human hearts,
    With human frailty.

Keep them as spotless as the Host,
    That daily they caress
Their every thought and word and deed
    Deign, dearest Lord, to bless.

Our Father who art in heaven ...
Hail Mary, full of grace ...
Glory be to the Father ...

Mary, Queen of the Clergy, pray for them.

August 6 - Feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord

This feast prefigures the glory of the Resurrection of Jesus. It assures us that one day, we can share His glory.

Prayer: "God our Father, in the transfigured glory of Christ your Son, you strengthen our faith by confirming the witness of your prophets, and show us the splendor of your beloved sons and daughters. As we listen to the voice of your Son, help us to become heirs to eternal life with him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever."

Let us pray for the Pope's prayer intentions for the month of August:

General Intention - That the World Youth Day in Madrid may encourage young people throughout the world to have their lives rooted and built up in Christ.

Missionary Intention - That Western Christians may be open to the action of the Holy Spirit and rediscover the freshness and entusiasm of their faith.

In today's First Reading, "the author of the Book of Wisdom assures us that God's patience and clemency toward sinners are not signs of weakness in Him but of His desire that they, too, may undergo conversion and thereby reach salvation." (Euchalette, p.2)

".... The 'permission' that evil continue may be a means to test the faithfulness of His children, to challenge them to 'grow', to bring them to be vigilant and humble. God allows evil in order to draw from good people manifestations of a love which is absolutely sincere." (Euchalette, p. 4)

Today's first reading can be a source of consolation for each of us:
"Thus says the Lord: 'Just as from the heavens the rain and snow come down and do not return there till they have watered the earth, making it fertile and fruitful, giving seed to the one who sows and bread to the one who eats, so shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth. My word shall not return to me void, but shall do my will, achieving the end for which I sent it." (Isa 55:10-11)

July 3, 2011 - 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time - In today's Gospel, Our Lord Jesus invites us: "Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest." (Mt 11:28)

Today's Euchalette reminds us that "No one can say that this invitation does not concern him or her. Bruised and wounded in the battles of life, we all appreciate Jesus' invitation to go to him..."

The priest ended his homily today by saying: "Whatever trials you are going through, don't worry! Take heart! In the end, God will take care of everything!"

Let us ask the Lord for His grace that we may learn to trust Him at all times.

The eucharist is very important in our life for without it, we become dead spiritually, but let us not also forget what St Paul said that if we receive God unworthily, we are gulity of His blood.
This is where the sacrament of reconciliation is very important. I know that we can still receive commuinion if we have comitted venial sins but will it not be better if we receive thhe our Lord Jesus Christ's body soul and divinity after we have reconciled with God and heard those words from the priest that he absolve our sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
How many time we see people receiving the eucharist because everybody else does it. A lot of times, I see people standing outside the church chatting and pretending to be going to mass and receive communion like as if it is the normal thing to do.
The mass is not just for fellowship like other religion does but it is the remebrance of our our Lord's sacrifice on the cross to save being offered by the priest in Jesus' name and us as members of His body. This is very sacred and we should treat it as such.

Let us receive the eucharist with reverence and worthily.

June 26, 2011 - Today is the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ also known as Corpus Christi.

In Jn 6:54-55, the Lord Jesus tells us: "Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will raise them up on the last day; for my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink".

Today, "... Let us express our gratitude to the Lord for giving himself to us under the forms of Bread and Wine, the supernatural Food and Drink which nourishes, strengthens, and supports us during our earthly pilgrimage." (Excerpt from Euchallete)

Happy Feast, everyone! May we all accept the plenteous graces and blessings the Lord wishes to give us through the Eucharist!
